We are dealing with MFI.
4ml, 17 mil per ml
Motility - 40%
Morphology - 2%
Basically we aren't even a candidate for IUI at this point.
He has to make some lifestyle changes including start taking vitamins, reduce his alcohol intake to 3 drinks a week, see a urologist, and repeat the SA. The lifestyle changes can take 2-3 months to have an effect, and if there is an issue the urologist can correct, that can take up to a year to see results. But unless we make a significant improvement in his morphology, we are looking at ICSI at the very least.
I'm depressed, but I guess I should put that aside and be more concerned about H's ego.

sorry about the morph. I know nothing about morph. However you're other numbers are near the range we were in.
You're DH is lucky with 3 drinks per week. My DH was only allowed 1 (for the 10 months we were in "treatment")
trying to remember the vitamins I had DH taking. I may have to look at home for the mg's that some of them were, but I do know:
1000mg vitamin C
L-Carnitine (this was either 500mg or 1000mg)
zinc
Selenium 250mg
men's multivitamin
ugh... it seems like there was at least one more.
Hang in there and take care of your man's ego (mine went shopping for a big screen - that's manly).

oh dipitie... I'm sorry!
Thanks ladies! Seriously, it means a lot to have you guys to talk to. H would kill me if I shared that with any of my non-nest friends. He might want to kill me if he knew I was sharing it with you, but what he doesn't know won't hurt him.
And Staycee - thanks for the vitamin list - I guess the doc gave him a whole bunch of lifestyle changes he needs to make and we'll probably go over that when I get home. Guess I should have waited on that VitaCost order until we got the results back! Ha ha ha - His new TV was delivered Saturday so that should curb some of the retail therapy urges

i'm sorry hon- my husband's morph was only about 1-2% as well & it was so hard for him to hear. the rest wasn't all that great either- but yeah.
i hope his lifestyle changes help up his #'s a little- my fingers are crossed.

The count looks pretty darn decent (I'm reading that as 17 mil * 4). We were told we could try IUI if we could get the total count above 10 mil (our total count was 500,000) and we had 0% morph, and 30 something % motility. With the lifestyle changes you may very well be good IUI candidates (and not all doctors think that morph issues are a straight to IVF card).
I actually kind of regret wasting so much time with the urologist. We did the lifestyle changes and the vitamins and the clomid and had no results. But, alas, some people see improvement.
As for the ego, he'll adjust. Just be extra nice to him for a while
Nothing like a good BJ to remind him he's still a man (oh and mine ended up buying himself a motorcycle)

Please don't count yourself out of the game totally. We were told ICSI too.
Anyway if you are interested DH's supplements were:
1000mg of Vit. C
50mg of Zinc
500mg of L-Carnitine
200mcg Selenium
Who knows if they helped but they didn't hurt. *hugs*
Ah, Dipitie, I'm so, so sorry. DH's numbers were extremely low on all counts. So I know what you mean by it sucking and it hitting DH. He took it hard at first - and still does. But it does get better.
Hopefully some of the lifestyle changes help the morph. Good luck to you!

UGH!!!
Sorry!!!!
We got a bad SA at first, and DH started the vitamins and no smoking and only one drink a week and his numbers imporved enough for IUI #1 and by #2 they were great. Hang in there!! It's a tough road!!!
My H's numbers were similar (except he provided less than 2 ml for his 2 SAs, if I recall correctly) and after his lifestyle changes (which were really just limiting the alcohol intake and taking a regular mens multivit), IUI #1 worked for us.
Oh, and as for timeline, his 1st SA was end of June, 2nd SA was end of July, 3rd SA was start of August, and our IUI was Aug 12. That's only a span of 2 months or so.
All is not lost!
Good luck!
