Did it just hit you or was it more gradual? I have had cramps for a while now and I am just wondering if this is a gradual labor onset or if it will just hit me. TIA!

I had some mild cramping on & off for a few days but it always went away before a real pattern showed up -- then one night my water broke all of a sudden while I was doing laundry -- and INTENSE contractions started about an hour and a half later. It was a quick labor from there.
I had BH's for weeks and weeks.... my water broke one week after my due date and the contractions were very dull/aches at first and gradually got worse.

Two days prior to my water breaking, I had very intense BH contractions. I just assumed that was normal as I'd always had BH contrax. They were just a little more intense than usual and one right after the other. I went to bed on Thursday night and woke up at 4:45 a.m. on Friday morning to my water breaking. The intense labor contrax started about an hour or so later.
Had light cramping starting around 8:30 or 9:00 a.m., but was pooping a bunch so I didn't know if it was labor or just b/c of the pooping. ?Cramps got more frequent, so we went to the hospital at 1 p.m. and had our LO at 7. ?

Extremely gradual! That is why I eventually had to be induced- having pretty consistent contractions (ones that I had to breathe through), but taking forever to dilate!
No gradual here. I didn't even get a BH contrax and at 38 weeks I just woke up at 2 am with pretty major pressure in my lower back and belly and they were 3- min apart for hours and she was born that night.
I had some major cramping and didn't feel well starting around 6:00 the night before I was going to be induced (at 41 weeks). Then, around 1 a.m., contractions woke me up. I started timing them and called the hospital. I arrived at 6 a.m. in active labor. I was so glad I went on my own and didn't have to be induced. GL!

The first thing I noticed was my water breaking at 4 am, but in hindsight I guess I was in labor the whole evening/night before because I was whiny and couldn't sit down because of butt pain (I could only sit on my yoga ball at dinner LOL,) but never felt what had been described as a contraction. I found labor to be really sneaky, and for me very fast!
I went to the OB for my 41 week appointment after having timeable contractions early that AM for two hours. She confirmed I was in "early labor." This went on for three days - periods of time with timeable contractions, but then no progression. Then I was awakened by contractions in the middle of the night - they were two minutes apart, and they were that close the rest of labor. So, I guess the beginning was gradual, and then it was fast and furious.

OMG- mine exactly, except I had DD at 1:50pm... but started ctx around 3am, hospital around 11am. Nothing before 3am!
