I am so proud of my art project I finished last night. I bought white letters at Michael's and a piece of plain wood. I painted the wood pink and glued the white letters (whole name) to it. It looks even better than I thought it would.
I'm going to do something with her name- probably her first name in wall letters or paint it on really neat or something. I went to this website called wallwords.com where they have the baby's name and meaning and DOB but it's only for the 50 most popular names, so that was out for me.

I think they are really cute. I plan on doing the full first name, and getting wooden ones w/o ribbon, and painting them 2 colors to match whatever bedding/room decor I go with.
I think I definitely want to do them. I want patterns to be painted on them and if it's a girl, hung with ribbon; if it's a boy, no ribbon. I think they are cute. I'd like to hang them on the wall above the changing table.
Oh, yeah... I would probably do the first name.

I havent like the ones ive seen that are hung with ribbon. I feel like it takes away from the letters. it also looks a bit cluttered. I like these in the full first name with fun designs (dots, squiggles, demask etc.)

Yeah, you're right... the ribbons do make it look cluttered on a long name. I guess if the name was really short, like three letters long, then I still like the ribbon but otherwise, nah...
I love Etsy for that kind of stuff. They are so cute.

ohh! pictures??
I'll have to take some tonight. I still have yet to take any nursery OR bump pictures!
I wanted to do my daughters first name, but we will be buying letters forever. Her name is Vanessa. I thought about purchasing the white letters and having our boys decorate and paint them with the colors of her room. Then hanging them with ribbon on the wall behind her crib. Not sure yet.
If I were to do wall letters (I have no nursery room yet, so I haven't begun thinking about this yet), I would do the full first name, probably on some sort of solid background, and would do each letter a solid color, but not necessarily all the same colors.

I was thinking of doing the first name. The wood letters with ribbon are cute, but just NMS. I think I'll probably use either metal or simple wood letters, framed collage of photos using "Spell with Flickr," or make a banner similar to below.
Urban Outfitters have some neat letters (go to Apartment > Wall decor). Some styles are kind of spendy, so if we choose a long name, I'll probably just do initials.

I'm planning to do painted wooden letters with just the first name (or, possibly the nickname if we name the kid something but plan to always use the nickname -- like Elizabeth/Beth). I will probably paint them in solid colors, maybe different colors for different letters. I'm planning to hang them with ribbon.
I'm doing first name only, wood and no ribbon (b/c it seems a little girly, when I have a girl, I'll definitely do ribbon!). I was thinking of a solid color but I saw very cute brown, blue and white letters yesterday (some striped, some polka dot) at BRU and it would go perfect with his room! So I'll probably decide once I get the room painted and the bedding and all the accesories in too see if the patterned letters make it to much and a solid would tone it down a bit or vice versa.
Do you think it is more of a girly thing or is it ok to do it in a boy's nursery too? ?I think it's cute and have been thinking about doing his first name. ?I like the pp's idea about painting them and glueing them on the wooden frame thingy...I love crafty projects so I just might have to do that
