moms without a washer/dryer

I currently wash at the laundro mat. We have a laundry room in our condo complex but it winds up being more expensive. I dont know if I will keep going to the mat, use the complex's room or drop it at the mat and have them do it. I know Im going to be doing laundry A LOT so I guess Im weighing time spent doing laundry (where I could be sleeping!) vs cost. Whats your plan?

Re: moms without a washer/dryer

  • I cannot imagine having a baby without a washer and dryer in my house. I know many do it, but that would be too stressful for me. Esp. b/c I am using cloth diapers. Maybe instead of worrying about whether everyone can bank cord blood you worry about buying a washer/dryer?

  • My same thoughts!
  • We can't have washers/ dryers in our co-op so we use the ones downstairs in the laundry room.  Ours is less expensive than using the laundry mat, but thers only a few machines so if theres a ton of wash we'll bring it to the laundry mat or to my inlaws if we're going oer for dinner.

  • haha i love how everyone acts like they are judgement free. We are planning on selling out condo and its not financially smart to invest in the w/d b-i :-)

I never said I was judgement free, but what you did this morning was a HUGE thing to judge on, esp for someone worried about not having a washer/dryer...Just sayin'.

That said, even if you're selling your condo, why can't you buy one? We took ours from an apartment to our house. They move.

bc we would have to get lots of permits and permission since our condo association sucks. it also wouldnt be worth it since we would have to do a lot of interior work to the house to accommodate them.

  • I would invest in a washer/dryer before cord banking....you have a 100% chance of doing laundry.

    LOL I love this.

Seriously though - that sucks about the condo issue, I've never heard of owning a condo without a washer dryer hookup at the very least.

yea me either...until i lived in one. BLOWS.

  • Wow, I missed the cord blood banking drama earlier!

We currently live in an apartment that has washers/dryers in the basement. In a year we'll probably buy something so the washer issue won't be of long duration. However, we'll use what's in our building. We're not the cloth diaper type anyway but not having a washer/dryer in our unit is one reason why we're not going that route. We might do a diaper service, though.

  • Not to piss you off... but maybe you should buy a house with a washer and dryer in it...
