2nd Trimester

just started getting headaches

It seems like I have one once a day. Last time I was checked I didn't have high blood pressure, but now after googling it. It said calls your doctor if:

?  You're in your second or third trimester and have a bad headache or a headache for the first time, which may or may not be accompanied by visual changes, sharp upper abdominal pain, sudden weight gain, or swelling in your hands or face. You'll need to have your blood pressure and urine checked right away to be sure you don't have preeclampsia. (If you've been having any problems with high or rising blood pressure, call even if you have a mild headache.)

Anybody else having bad headaches ?

Re: just started getting headaches

  • I had terrible headaches around week 15. I told my doctor at my appt and he said it was very normal to have bad headaches throughout pregnancy. He wasn't concerned but I don't have high bp. If you're worried though I'm sure they wouldn't mind if you called.

  • I have headaches. They aren't very bad they are more slight. I have spoken to my doctor and she said it was common as long as you don't have high blood preassure or visual things. Headaches can be triggered by headaches, hunger, lack of sleep, dehydration and/or stress. Every time you go for a check up they test your urine for sugar. If you are very worried call your doctor.

  • I get them all the time. My Dr. said its normal with the increased blood volume and to just drink tons of water. But there is only so much water a human can drink, right? I think i might drown, and I still have bad headaches!

  • I had that same problem.  Around 13-14w I started getting headaches at least every other day, if not every day.  I asked my dr at my 14w appt and he said that is a very common time in pg to get headaches, even if you never had them before (I happen to have migraines pre-pg).  He said they should get better around 20-22w and mine did.  I haven't actually had a headache of any sort since around week 20.  It's been heaven!

If your worried, call your dr.  It's what they're for.

  • This week, knock on wood, my headaches have been better.  But I normally suffer from migraines, even before pregnancy.  My doctor didn't seem to worried about it.  If you're concerned though, call your doctor.  I called mine yesterday for nose bleeds.....a co-worker freaked me out about it.  They just told me to use a humidifier.  But call your doctor.  That's what they're there for.
  • I used to get them really bad early in my 2nd tri, my doctor said it's normal, she did say my bp was a little high so I just watch my sodium intake, have a little coffee in the am when I feel one comming on, so far I don't have them as bad as before.
  • My doctor told me that headaches get intense during 14-22 weeks of pregnancy. It is normal, especially if you were prone to headaches before pregnancy.  I have them almost daily right now and just check my BP every once in a while just to be on the safe side.
  • well your lucky you got this far and just started having them...im jealous! i get headaches almost every day, and tylenol just does not cut it!! my bp is always around 110/70 so i know its not due to bp...its a normal thing
