Daycare - Fall Registration deadline 2/27?

Fall Registration deadline is Friday. If we do not pay in full, our spot is not guaranteed for the fall and openings are given to families on the waiting list.

What happens to the registration fee if we decide to change schools before the Fall? Is is refunded or is it a deposit for your spot and you lose it?

I am waiting to hear back from the director but am curious to see how other schools work. (DS is only 9 months if that matters...)

    Most schools will not refund the registration fee. As far as I know, that's sort of why they charge a non-refundable registration fee -- so that if you sign up, you are less likely to change your mind and leave them hanging.

    One daycare we looked at, it was a requirement to pay the yearly registration fee ($100) to just get on the waiting list.  It would apply if you eventually got in the daycare, but otherwise, it was non-refundable.

    I could see the annual/registration fee (if any) being non-refundable, but if you are saying you have to pay the whole tuition upfront - I would think they would give that back, since they didn't earn the tuition yet, if you are pulling them out.
