3 hour glucose test

Has anyone had to take the 3 hour test for gestational diabetes? My doctor called this morning and told me I "failed" the 1 hour test. This has made me nervous. Has anyone been diagnosed with gestational diabetes??

A lot of people fail the 1 hour and pass the 3 hour. I did the first time I was pregnant. Last time, passed the 1 hour. This time, failed both.

There are quite a few people on here who have GD. Hope you pass though!

Don't worry. I did not have it, but I was told not to get nervous if the first test came back not good. Sometimes it can be an error or something flukey. Hang in there.

I failed my 3 hour test, my doctor said I was borderline. I haven't gotten to much info yet, I have a apt at the local diabetic clinic next week. But I've started writing down what I eat and cutting out as much sugar as I can. From what I've heard its very workable with diet. Good luck!

up until jenerally had her baby last week, we had a daily check-in for the GD mamas. feel free to ask any Q's because we've all been in that boat!

the 3hr test really isn't that bad- just bring something to entertain yourself with for that time span! i hope you pass, but if you don't it'll be OK. the GD diet is not too difficult to follow, and it is pretty interesting to see what spikes your blood sugar (and what you can get away with!). GL.

Don't worry - it is common to fail the one hour screening test and pass the 3 hour glucose tolerance test. I failed the one hour pretty bad with a 172, but passed the three hour. I was definitely nervous about the test, but there is not a whole lot you can do about it. My doctor didn't seem particularly concerned about it either. She told me that if my sugar levels were too high (she didn't like when I used the word "failed") then I would be sent to a specialist where we would construct a diet. They would also monitor the size of the baby very closely from there on out. I was concerned about being induced, but she said that as long as the baby wasn't too big then I was okay. Luckily I passed, but she actually put me at ease about the whole situation. Good luck!

I failed the 1 and passed the 3. Just try to remind yourself that if you have it it's best to know so that you can protect your baby. The test was not a lot of fun, but you'll be fine.

I failed the 1 hour last week and just took the 3 hour yesterday. I'm anxiously awaiting my results and keeping my fingers crossed that I pass!

The tech that did my test yesterday said that tons of people fail the 1 hour and then end up passing the 3 hour.

I failed the 1 hour and passed the 3 hour. Make sure you bring something to do during the test and have a snack with you for immediately following because you will have to fast for 12 hours before and the test takes 3 hours and 15 hours without a feeding is not good for us pregnant girls! I was so nervous about failing but your doctor's office will have information and support for you and there's plenty of ladies on here that will offer you support and advice! Good luck!

Failed the 1 hr. Passed the 3.

But the lab said I'd failed the 3 hour also, but my doc laughed and showed me the paper. It clearly said 108 "failed" (written by the lab) and then had a key below that said "140 or greater = fail"

I hate my lab. But I'm glad my doc can read.
