Is Isla getting popular?

I'm afraid it's popularity is going to explode because of the Shopaholic movie. I love it. But I'm not sure I want to use it if it's going to go the way of Eva and Ella, and be every other little girl's name.

Do you think it will gain popularity that fast?

    Well...it's a name that I had never heard before and after seeing it hear and hearing about the Shopaholic actress, I'm loving it. I don't see it exploding like Ava, but perhaps it may become popular enough that people know how to pronounce it?!

    I had a friend growing up named Ayla. Pronouced the same as Isla. And never heard it on anyone else until the actress got popular and now I see the name EVERYWHERE along with the name Leighton.

    I do think it is gaining popularity, but not that fast.  It is not even on the ssa top 1000 girls names.  I think it is safe to use, it wont be super popular for at least a few more years, if ever.

    If The Bump is any indication, yes.  That name is mentioned at least every few days.  It's very pretty, though.

    I have seen that name brought up a bunch on this board and a few others - it certainly seems to be gaining popularity.

    I think it is popular as far as being on people's lists, on boards, under consideration- but I don't see it getting into the top 10.

    I really hope this is one of those names that stays under the radar. I love this name, and if we ever have another daughter, we will probably name her this. Unless it becomes a "me too" name.

    I don't think the bump/nest are good indicators of actual baby name popularity. Isla might make the top 100, but I doubt it will get into the top 10.

    I love that name, ever since I first heard of Isla Fisher when she first started acting in movies. We never had a girl, though, to use it:( I'd use it now before it got "trendy".
