Are you a different kind of mother than you expected?
For example, I am considering being a SAHM for while (which I NEVER would have considered before, but it coincides with some time off to apply to grad school and I'm really happy about it).
And I'm also very excited to switch to cloth diapers - my first shipment arrives this week. Before having a baby I would never have considered cloth diapers either!
Re: Are you a different mom than you expected?
Ditto. My parents (especially my Mom) laugh at me all the time b/c I jump the second I hear DD fuss or cry, and DD is as my Mom puts it "always held or being played with...she's never put down."
Yes! I too never wanted to be a SAHM, but since DD was born I've cried almost daily at the thought of sending her to daycare. Luckily today DH refigured our finances and now I'm able to do it!
DD will nap in bed with me sometimes (some days it's the only way she'll nap!) and before we had her I thought letting kids sleep in your bed was a sin.
I'm more laid back than I thought I would be.
I'm also surprised that I'm kind of thinking that going back to work wouldn't be the worst thing in the world. We'll see . . .

i thought i would be a neurotic mess.
im much more laid back, very confident in my "mothering" skills, and patient that I thought i would ever be. like the pp said, i do get very anxious about SIDS. i love when other people hold him (but i also love when he starts crying out for me and looking around for me when someone else is holding him)
Exactly what I was going to say.
I was afraid to hold babies before I had mine, now I say "Bring on the babies!"
