Playing instead of eating

Marion has recently started taking up to two full bottles at night - almost not even waking up to eat them.  (Obviously, waking up, but then when you give her the bottle, closing her eyes and looking asleep except for the fact she's eating 6 oz.)

She's also started really, really liking to play a lot and we've gone back to taking forever to finish a bottle because she doesn't just want to focus on eating, she'd rather play in between ounces.

Is this just a phase?  Something I should just roll with and know like most everything else, it will pass?

Re: Playing instead of eating

  • what level nipple are you using? Luca would play when the flow wasn't fast enough..  It also may be time for some cereal at night to keep her tummy full..  Luca hated rice cereal, but loved oatmeal....
  • Loading the player...
  • C is doing this too and I am hoping that easing him onto solids will help. Some days it seems he does take in less because he is so distracted by every little thing. They will always make up for at night what they don't get during the day.  The increase in night feedings started a couple weeks ago and the time between those night feeds is getting shorter again.  Today we added sweet potatoes and then it's on to oatmeal. He seems really into the solids and downs them like a champ.  He sits there like a baby bird with his mouth open waiting for more.  Too cute.

    C'mon solids.  Mama need sleepy.
