2nd Trimester

Also a clicky poll (not about yogurt)

I've been wondering how you ladies feel about maternity clothes in terms of fit.  Do you prefer form fitting shirts that show off the belly or loose shirts that can still show off the belly but not so much.

My mom told me this weekend that I need to buy "tighter" shirts because its more flattering when pregnant (Note: she did not mean tighter as in you belong in a hustler magazine btw)

  • I'm generally a bigger girl and in looser maternity shirts I feel like I'm wearing a tent. I prefer the form fitting ones because then I don't look as big (although I tend to look less obviously pregnant and more just like i'm thick waisted in them).

  • tho when im not preg I never wear tight shirts
  • I think that I like the tops that are somewhat in between.  I like the ones that tie in the back, or are wrap around.  This way you still have some shape to you, not just round all over.
  • I agree with your mom and actually read that in a pregnancy book too (one of the fun ones, not a medical one).

I think esp before 3rd tri you look better in form fitting clothes b/c they it's obvious it's a baby bump versus just a bit chunky, you know? But it then depends on you really want to show it off or hide it more? I feel prettier and cuter in form fitting tops though. (not too tight obviously, but nothing baggy).

  • I have to agree with your mom! I feel so much better in a fitted shirt. I am really partial to shirts/dresses that have an empire waist or some sort of line under my chest.

  • I love dresses in the babydoll style that tie under the boobs and then follow the curve of my belly.  I look more pg, and my boobs and belly remain distinct areas of my body- I don't just look like a big round orange.
