How to clean Nuby straw sippy cups?

I had been putting the lid in the dashwasher with straw intact, but there is milk or water stuck in the straw afterward. Do you have a trick? Do you take the valve off? Or the straw and the valve? Do you wash those by hand or stick those in the dishwasher too? TIA!

    We haven't used ours in awhile but I remember having to pull the straw out and wash those by hand to get all of the milk out of it.

    I take it all apart before putting it in the dishwasher. I have one of those baskets that has a place for straws. So I just put the pieces upright on that.

    I wash by hand. I have found that if you squeeze the straw just right water will just run through it. I will also suck hot water through. I am going to try using the little bottle brush tonight. This is the only cup that DS likes right now so I just have to deal with the cleaning.

    I've never used Nuby straw sippies, but w/ DD's straw sippies, I run a pipe cleaner through the straws to clean them. I wash them all at the same time and throw away the pipe cleaner when I'm finished, because they rust if you leave them to use again.
