Your first born..

Today at my OB apt, one of the nurses was commenting on how much DD looks like me. She then asked if she was my first child. I said yes. Nurse says, "Wow, I'm surprised. The first born always looks like the father."

I've NEVER heard anyone say this before so I'm just curious. Does your first born look more like you or DH? Have you heard this before?

I think DS looks more like my DH. He has from day 1. They have the exact same profile.

Kind of. I've heard it's an evolutionary thing. Babies, and especially first ones, look like the father, so that the father knows which babies are his and thus "selects" them to take care of.

I've never heard that and I think/have been told that Mia looks more like me than DH.

There is a theory that says when the child is a newborn, they come out looking like dad, and that this is natures way of ensuring that the dad bonds & knows it's his. As they get older, they may or may not start to look more like the mum. This weird theory has actually held true for a lot of my friends & family, and me.

DS is a mini DH. Everyone always says they look exactly alike.

DS looks a lot like DH - the profile is exactly the same. He has my coloring and expressions, though, so if you look at baby/toddler pics of me next to pics of him we look freakily alike. It is weird.

My first DC looks nothing like me at all, even his doctor commented on it. He looks like DH and dh's dad a lot. Most of the families I know are like this too-it is weird.

That is an interesting theory that I've never heard.

DD looks very much like my husband. However, she looks a lot like my baby pictures. My husband and I actually look alike. Similar coloring, etc...

Never heard of that before but when DD was an infant, a lot of people said she looked more like DH. Now everyone says she's a mini-me.

PAC looked just like DH when he was born. Now, he's my spitting image. We'll see if it holds up.

DS looks exactly like DH. Always has. I have heard that before too- the first usually resembles the father. I thought I read somewhere that it's sort of a remnant of older times to help establish the family unit- like proving paternity.

all 3 of mine look like DH...I can't make a kid that looks like me.

ALthough, I did get one comment that Taylor looks like my mother...I'm not sure if I see that, but I was flattered and appreciated it because I"m sick of hearing how they look EXACTLY like DH.
