last night I put him in his crib and he just wasn't ready to lay down. so I sat in the glider and he was standing in his crib... walking one way and then the other. All of a sudden... he leaned over the side and next thing he is laying on his back on the floor. It was so fast I couldn't have reacted if I wanted to... he literally launched himself out.
It was terrifying to both me and to him... so I suppose this means we need to convert to a toddler bed... which i Had been considering anyway... but how do I keep him in it? And... his room is SO not baby proofed... as far as the drawers and the cords. How do you do this?
How did he get this old?
Re: My kid fell on his head out of the crib....
Poor Mommy and Joey. Not sure how to keep him in there. Don't they have something you can buy to go on top like a tent?
Crazy Christmas Kids!
Poor Joey, and poor you! I would have been distraught!
Same thing happened to Ashley. Travis never slept another night in his crib. She went out that next day and got him a big boy bed. I remember Nanner putting a crib tent on Sam's bed. They are not cheap but if you are not ready to move him yet, that might be a good alternative.
Oh my gosh! That's soscary. I'm glad he's okay.
Honestly, when we put Mia in her big girl bed, we just put a mattress and box springs on the floor so it was closer to the ground. She couldn't hurt herself (Badly) climbing in and out and could do it by herself. We put a railing on one side and put it against the wall on the other side.
Honestly, we at first we just told her to stay in and she did. weird. But we baby proofed so she would be safe. We keep the door closed for now because of Micah being awake but before we had the door mostly open and she never left the room. It might not be as bad as you think.
I'm sorry and he's a strong boy so he probably thinks it's nothing!
Emmy slept in a toddler bed since she was 15mos. It was quite easy keeping her there to sleep. We gave her DH's quilt (that's her big girl blanket), and during the winter, she got her own goose down. She loved it. We also surround the edges with all her favorite stuff animals.
I would definitely get the room baby proofed (maybe put a gate at his door so he doesn't roam around the house, especially if he's upstairs). Once you do all of this, you'll have a better peace of mind when you convert him over. So even if he does get out of bed, he'll just end up asleep on the floor in his room!
