I was just chatting on line with a friend, and she said, "I wish someone would do some research on the impact stress has on TTC." I told her "don't even go down the 'relax and it will happen' route. People get pregnant all the time during times of war and famine."

Her response: "But people have lots and lots of sex before they go off to war!"

    good for you for trying to tell her to back down

    earlier on, my mom used to pull the "relax" card.   Until I pretty much had to yell at her that I was ovulating fine.   So what more would my "relaxing" do?   Make DH sperm swim better?

    Yeah, its lame.  Sometimes I think people just say "relax" because they have nothing else to say and feel like they should say something.  *sigh*

    My mom told me I should relax more about getting pregnant and staying pregnant.  I told her that I won't relax until I see a flickering heartbeat on u/s and probably not then.

    She then told me to look on the bright side, because really, we haven't been trying that long.  I told her that 2 failed pregnancies in 7 months was not a bright side or something I could relax over.

    Then I bit my tongue really, really hard and tried to explain why those were not helpful comments and why they actually hurt my feelings and she backed off.

    It's true that people have a lot of sex before going off to war, but if her theory is that stress affects ttc, then the amount of sex would be a moot point because the women would still not be ovulating at all.

    That's all I got. Good for you for at least attempting to set her straight

    I know if stress has ANYTHING to do with my not being KU'd, it's only because I have a shiit job with a shiit boss, not because I need to relax. FRO
