I'm starting to get nervous. I don't know why though. You'd think I'd be excited about the potential of no more abdominal pain. It's on Thursday but I don't find out the time until Wednesday. I took a 1/2 day on Wednesday, and sick days on Thursday and Friday. For those that had laps at the end of the week, did you return to work on Monday?
They didn't tell me anything about bowel prep so I'm assuming I don't have to deal with that unless they tell me otherwise on Wednesday. Can you/did you take anything to help you sleep the night before? What about the night after? How long until you were eating regular foods? How long until you were exercising? Did you spot immedaitely after and until your next period? Should I shave mostly everything? If you had a hysteroscopy at the same time, is there anything to know about that?
Will I feel like sh!t if I have to leave the house between Friday and Sunday? Our house is for sale so there's the potential for a showing over the weekend.
Phew, that's a lot of questions.
Re: lap this week- lots and lots of ?s
ditto!
For those that had laps at the end of the week, did you return to work on Monday?Yes. I had mine on Wednesday and was at work on Monday
Can you/did you take anything to help you sleep the night before? Was told not to take anything the day before.
What about the night after?I had percocet. It kept me awake, so the next night I took Tylenol PM instead of the Percocet.
How long until you were eating regular foods?I scarfed down Sonic as soon as I got home.
How long until you were exercising?I took a week off, then started slowly on the tread mill. 2 weeks later I was back in my weight training class.
Did you spot immedaitely after and until your next period? I spotted, sometimes heavy, until my period started. In fact I was not sure when my period actually started. I just counted the day with the heaviest cramps as CD1.
Should I shave mostly everything? I shaved my girly bits, but not my tummy. Shave your tummy! The bandages rip all the hair out and it hurts.
If you had a hysteroscopy at the same time, is there anything to know about that? I had one, but no prep additional prep needed.
My lap was on a Tuesday - and I went into work on Saturday (so that could equate to a Thursday/Monday deal)
I didn't take anything the night before for sleep (never crossed my mind - but I had to be up and at the hospital by 6am)
I had some vicodin for after. I believe I took some that night.
I ate regular foods as soon as I got home at 10am that day.
I was on my treadmill 2 days after lap - but walking very slowly because any giggling of the skin annoyed my incisions.
I didn't spot because I was on the pill before lap and choose to stay on it for 5 more days so that my next CD1 would be after my post op appt and that way I could immediately begin another IUI cycle.
Shaving? I just did my normal routine, which was low enough for the lower incision (my other incision was in my belly button)
I'm not sure if you'll feel crappy if you have to go anywhere. Everyone's recovery is different. Mine was really easy - but I still spent A LOT of time lying around those first few days.

Mine was on a Thursday and I returned to work Monday.
I didn't have bowel prep - just nothing to eat or drink after midnight. I didn't take anything to help me sleep the night before.
The night after I was on tylenol with codene which made me sleepy.
I had soup after but had normal foods the next day.
Exercise after Monday.
I spotted immediately and AF was delayed (even on provera)
I was groomed, but they shouldn't need anything shaved.
I didn't have a hys.
I left the house, I had a family dinner that Sunday - I would have rather been home, but it wasn't awful.
Good luck, hope I helped a bit.

see, this is where I got lucky. I didn't have one ounce of the gas pain. And I hadn't heard anything pleasant about it prior.

Can you/did you take anything to help you sleep the night before? Was told to fast.. nothing was taken
What about the night after? They gave me Loratab.. but was on Advil by 2 days after
How long until you were eating regular foods? I ate light the day of the procedure but was fine the next day
How long until you were exercising? I don't exercise
Did you spot immediately after and until your next period? I bled for awhile.. don't remember exactly how long
Should I shave mostly everything? I trimmed down there and shaved the top a little lower than I normally do.
If you had a hysteroscopy at the same time, is there anything to know about that? I had one, but no prep additional prep needed.
As for the gas Nikki mentioned.. a heating pad and GasX are your friend.. oh... and the pain pills made me constipated so a stool softner is also helpful.

Yes! Get some of those too.
I had my lap on a Tuesday and could have gone back to work on Friday but thought why bother. You should be fine going back on Monday. You might be moving a little slow still, but you should be ok.
I was told not to take anything after midnight and I was tired anyway so didn't need anything to help me sleep.
I was pretty drowsy for about two days, I'd cat nap a lot off and on but still managed to sleep decently. You'd probably be ok taking Tylenol PM, but maybe check with your doc. You wouldn't want to interfere with any other medication.
I went to lunch with my parents and DH afterwards. I got a little nauseous, but I have that kind of reaction to most pain meds so I don't think it was the food or the surgery.
I followed my docs orders with the two week sheet of everything I couldn't do for a few weeks. She said no exercising, no sex, etc for two weeks until she could check me out at the post op appt so I was a good girl and waited. I walked a bit, but nothing too strenuous.
I spotted for about a week and then stopped. It totally messed up my cycle so I didn't get FP for another 3 weeks after, even though I had the lap on like CD 12 or so. It wasn't bad, but this is definitely one of those "you never know" kind of things. Take pads with you because they only have the ginormous hospital pads. :-) You might need those, but you also might be more comfortable with different ones if you don't need economy size.
Shave what you feel comfortable with. They might still shave you. :-)
The hysteroscopy didn't require anything additional.
Ditto on the pain Nikki described. The pain from the gas rising into your shoulders is the most uncomfortable. You can take Gas X for that--so you may want to go pick up a box just in case. And ditto on the lying flat. I lay flat for the first two days afterwards and just took it easy and by the 3rd day I was either used to it or hardly noticed it.
As far as leaving the house -- Just be prepared to be uncomfortable. You won't be in a lot of pain per say, but you'll be bloated and just feel swollen. You probably should be prepared to wear comfy pants, jeans may rub and tug on your incisions depending on wear they are located.
Any more ?s just ask! Good luck QC!
