Re: Monday Check-In

  • 1.  CD11.  Feeling good, although tired.  Ellie has her 9 month check up today!  Yay!!

    2.  High was my sister's bachelorette party!  We went to the Melting Pot, then out to bars.  She had thought she wanted something low key, so we went to the Scholar's Inn.  But when we got there, she wanted to dance.  So we went to Have a Nice Day Cafe.  I was the DD, so I toted her and her friends around and I got home at 4:30 am.  I'm waaaaay too old to be doing that.  lol.  I didn't really have a low, except being tired all day yesterday.

    3.   This is on my menu for this week.  It looks delish!

    4.  I don't observe Lent.

  • 1. CD infinity.  This morning my thermometer actually claims my temp was 95.79.  What?  Maybe I need a new thermometer, though my usual temps have always been low, just not that low.  I have two days of provera left, but I would be just as happy if AF came earlier so that I could get started on my next cycle.

    2. High = DH and I decided that we are staying in STL next year!  No moving!  We are both going to stay at our current jobs and our lovely house and are going to most likely a year from June.  I am so at peace with this decision, which makes me know it is the right one for us.

No real low this weekend; even though I hadn't been looking forward to it because we were busy, it ended up being a pretty good weekend!

    3. I have a recipe for slow-cooker lasagna that I am trying later this week.  It's in this month's Food Magazine. I'll post the recipe in my blog after i've made it if it's any good.

    4. I will be recognizing Lent, but I'm not exactly sure how yet.  I still have a couple more days to think about it and decide!

  • 1. 34 wks 5d pregnant. thought maybe I dropped over the weekend because I was have pressure/weirdness down low that I've never had before, and couldn't feel the baby up as high yesterday. he/she is crunching my ribs again as i sit here working though, so who knows. until last night i swore i was totally ready for the baby to come, but now i'm glad that (hopefully) my husband and i have a few more weeks of "just us" time.

    2. high:bought some books for the baby at the mass ave. toy store and 2 neutral outfits at Nurture. so cute! also got our carseat from my parents, which was exciting.

low: nothing really; maybe just uncomfortableness :)

    3. not sure about future recipes, but we made this pasta sauce last week and it was awesome:

    3. Made these on Sunday for breakfast. Holy crap.

    4. I think this year I'm going to try to give up sweets. It will be the first time since elementary school that I will have done something.

  • 1. Where are you in your cycle/pg/pp/whatever?  How are you feeling? 14DPO. Feeling great! AF should show up tomorrow so I have the sore boobs/lower back but otherwise I'm good to go.

    2. High/Low of the weekend. High - Going to bed at 9:30 last night. Low - Not having any free time whatsoever this weekend. My weekend was monopolized by work and the Army. Then, yesterday evening, the only time Abe and I had alone together, SIL called. I love her dearly. But she needed help. I had to go fix her hair for her which took an hour of mine and Abe's time. I was very happy to help her out but I just wanted to reeeeelax for five minutes. Oh well. Here's to this coming weekend!

    3. Any recipes you've bookmarked to try in the near future?  Please share! Nope. I'm a culinary bum lately.

    4. Are you doing anything for Lent? Nope.

  • 1) 32w0d. Felt super tired and sore after my shower yesterday, but a little better today. For some reason, my arms have been killing me lately. I never would have thought that my arms would be trying to prepare me for carrying a little one. :-)

    2) High - my shower!! We received so many wonderful things, and I loved hearing people tell me how fabulous I looked... and eat cake! :-) Low - my aunt was so ridiculously annoying, I almost lost it on her. And just when I was about to lose it, we discovered that I didn't have a house key and we had to wait another 30 minutes for someone to bring my house key over.

    3) Nope. Sticking to my usuals!

    4) Nope.

  • 1. Day 2 of a new pack of pills.  I really need to call about my IUD and stop being a weenie about it.  We have the money set aside for it so I should use the money and stop freaking out about the procedure.

    2. High - sticking mostly to my diet and heading to Lafayette to see one of my best friends.  Low - being sick yesterday and being crabby to DH.

    3. I actually had one bookmarked that we did last night, pineapple black bean enchiladas and they were so so so good!  I also have a bunch from the March 2009 issues of Cooking Light and Shape that we're trying this week.

    4. I don't know if I'll give anything up for Lent, I'm already doing this healthy living plan (more info in my blog) but I'd like to actually go to mass on Wednesday if I remember.

  • 1. Where are you in your cycle/pg/pp/whatever?  How are you feeling?
16w pg - feeling good, just rushed.  I need to leave work to catch a flight, but people keep bothering me.  (Yet I have time to check-in....go figure)

    2. High/Low of the weekend.
High - getting my closet cleaned out!

Low - nothing really.....first for everything!

    3. Any recipes you've bookmarked to try in the near future?  Please share!
A whole lotta takeout.  I'm going to be out of town for the next 3 weeks with the exception of weekends.  The weekends I'm home are jam-packed, so I doubt there will be much cooking going on.

    4. Are you doing anything for Lent?
Haven't decided.  I normally give up soft drinks, but with the pregnancy I don't drink many to begin with.  Maybe cussing since we're trying to eliminate it before the baby comes.  Not sure!

  • 1. waiting for AF to come. I took the provera, so now just waiting. I am Confused since I spotted and had cramps for a week. and then nothing.

    2. We had a great week on the cruise, the low being leaving, and coming home. So no real high this weekend, except I guess sleeping in my own bed. but low is going back to work, and our roof is still leaky and the mailbox is still broken.

    3. I like to clip recipes out of magazines and save them, but I am pretty sure I am living on salad for a while after all the yummy food on the cruise.

    4. No. I would like to go to Ash Wednesday though.

  • 1.CD4.  Feeling fine.  Emma goes back to the helmet lady today.

    2. High: went to Sullivan's for my b-day on Wednesday.  Low: Swallowed too big of a piece of crab meat and it got stuck and I threw up in their bathroom.  Needless to say, the evening went to crap because my husband had to eat alone!

    3. Nothing really.  I usually end up seeing them and trying them.  Since I'm at home, I can just go get whatever I need if necessary.

    4. Nope.  Just trying not to eat meat on Fridays!

  • 1)  Last day of wearing Patch #3, AF should be here Wednesday or Thursday.  I'm traveling this week...always fun to do AF with that.

    2)  High--It was my birthday!  Had a great weekend, including plenty of time with the boy and we had a DTR convo, so we're finally official.  It's been 8 months since the broken engagement and I'm feeling really confident and good about this relationship.  Low--Having to come back to work and packing to leave.

    3)  I want to make beef and barley soup next week when I get back.

    4)  I'm not Catholic, so nope.

  • 1. Where are you in your cycle/pg/pp/whatever?  How are you feeling? I'm supposed to have my period this week at some point.  I'm on YAZ and don't stop taking it until Weds.

    2. High/Low of the weekend. High-Going out for a girls day yesterday.  My friend started Chemo today for her second go 'round w/cancer, so I arranged a surprise day.  We got our nails done, had lunch, and saw "He's Just Not That Into You".

Low-I am in pain because of a blemish between my boobs.  It showed up on Saturday.  If it doesn't start to subside by tomorrow, I'm going to see my Dr.

    3. Any recipes you've bookmarked to try in the near future?  Please share!  Not today.  I did a bunch of new one's last week. My favorite: Cowboy Cookies.  I don't have the recipe on me but it has oatmeal, almonds (or any nut) and chocolate chips.  They're awesome.

    4. Are you doing anything for Lent?  Nope.

  • 1. AF almost gone, thank goodness.

     2. It was an even-keel sort of weekend. I enjoyed watching Hugh Jackman host the Oscars and watching Penelope Cruz win. How exciting is my life?! ;)

    3. Nope, sorry!

    4. The normal Catholic stuff (Ash Wednesday service; some fasting, no meat Fridays; probably will try to make Stations of the Cross at some point). I usually give up pop and swear words as a sort of annual detox; the Rice Bowl gets some change whenever I say a bad word.

  • 1. Where are you in your cycle/pg/pp/whatever?  How are you feeling?

7mo 2w and 4d pp. Feeling great, AF was gone yesterday.

    2. High/Low of the weekend.

High-went to dinner and hung out with friends Saturday night.

Low-Gracie not sleeping good the whole weekend...we are both cranky and tired.

    3. Any recipes you've bookmarked to try in the near future?  Please share!

    2. High/Low of the weekend.  High: game night with some friends--taught Shawn how to play Rook  Low: I'm just tired of winter and the snow needs to GO!

    3. Any recipes you've bookmarked to try in the near future?  Please share!  Most of the things I have bookmarked are chicken recipes and I am still not over this dang chicken aversion so they have to just keep waiting on the que.  Last night I made cheesy, ranch potato cubes but they were just eh.

    4. Are you doing anything for Lent?  Nope, I'm not Catholic but Shawn kind of is...he doesn't do anything else to practice but actually sticks by the no meat on Fridays thing so I'll be participating in that as an innocent bystander.

  • 1. CD 17.  Nauseous and irritable, but those could both be due to lack of sleep.

    2. High, QT with DH.. Low, BFF got dumped by her SO, so she was understandably bummed.

    3. DH is the cook in our house.. I occasionally make desserts, but that's about it.  Sometimes I'll bookmark stuff from Annie's blog, but I haven't gotten around to making any of it yet!

    4. I just started thinking about it.  Not sure yet.  Ideas- do a weekday Mass once a week, daily prayertime before bed with DH, giving up eating out and doing something productive with that cash.. Still thinking.

  • 1.  Overdue, but OK

    2.  Seeing Slumdog Millionaire.  Good movie!  Love Bollywood!

    3.  I'm always last minutes on the recipes, but maybe when I am home all the time I will plan better!

    4.  I would normally, but I think/hope that I am probably not going to have much energy to focus on it this year!

  • 1. Where are you in your cycle/pg/pp/whatever?  How are you feeling?  Temping this month seemed sporatic...maybe b/c I had no consistency with the time. ;)

    2. High/Low of the weekend.  High was my photoshoot with the cutie 10 month old (pics on my blog).....

low for sure was hearing the news about Brooke this morning.  I lost my niece at 4 days old back in october and every time I hear about a new infant loss it tears my heart apart.  I am seriously sick to my stomach thinking of her family's pain and what they must be going through - not only with their loss but also looking at their other daughter and knowing her time is limited....I cannot fathom the strength that must take.  Ugh...tears.

    3. Any recipes you've bookmarked to try in the near future?  Please share!  I'm throwing the following in a crockpot and putting on low for 8 hours:

carrots, celery, split peas, onion, bay leaf/spices, chicken broath

    4. Are you doing anything for Lent?

nope, not Catholic....but I need to give up spending so much time on the computer so maybe I should give something up! :)

  • 1. AF is here for a visit. Glad to be on a new cycle. I'm glad they have been predictable lately.

    2. High - Spending time with my friend Marci... who's officially past her due date. Also Saturday was AWESOME because I got to sleep in, get up and do some things around the house, then go shopping a bit & out to eat at Steak N Shake with DH, Marci and her DH, then I spent a quiet nite at home holed up in the bedroom watching "A Very Long Engagement" (great movie!) and "Juno".

    Low - there wasn't really one. :)

    3. We are making homemade pizza tonight. But other than that... nothing yet. I've got a new recipe book in mind that I want to buy. I'm sure I'll get some ideas out of that.

    4. nope

  • 1. Where are you in your cycle/pg/pp/whatever? How are you feeling? 1st week of pills, the usual.

    2. High/Low of the weekend. High and low was combined - we celebrated SIL's bday yesterday, so it's always fun to see the family and spend time with the little nieces. However, all 3 kids were hacking and sniffling all over the place, so I will be amazed if neither DH or I gets sick in the next few days.

    3. Any recipes you've bookmarked to try in the near future?  Please share! Oh, tons...but for sure Tilapia with roasted corn (comes in handy for Lent) and PW's chocolate sheet cake...I can't wait to try that one!

    4. Are you doing anything for Lent? I'm not Catholic so technically I don't have to, but DH is, plus we kind of got in the habit all those years at ND - so we at least try to observe the meatless days.

  • 1. 8 weeks pp tomorrow - I feel fine

    2. high - seeing Andrew, low - feeling tired

    3. no

    4. dunno yet - i usually give up sweets, chocolate, or coffee..

  • 1. Starting second week of pills, felt kind of crappy this morning, but much better now.

    2.  Making a super-cute sample cake for a birthday party that I'm doing in a few weeks, I was really happy with how it turned out:

    image

    3.  I'm trying these this week:

    https://annieseats.wordpress.com/2007/11/19/benchiladas/

    https://joelens.blogspot.com/2008/05/can-you-carbonara.html

    4.  I just asked one of my male friends today if I should give up something for lent (I'm not Catholic).  He said that I should give up my monogamous relationship ;) He's dirty like that.

  • 1. CD10, feeling tired but good :)

    2. High: Doing a benefit play to raise money for the ACS, we usually donate about $40,000/yr     Low: Having a performance each night of the weekend; I'm really tired :P

    3. Not atm, not til after the play is finished next weekend.

    4. Are you doing anything for Lent?  Yes, I always stop cussing and give up caffeine.  I always do a 3rd thing that's different each year, this year I'm giving up fast food.  We'll see how that one goes (no taco bell.....ugh).
