So glad Beyonce did At Last (even that one line)

Since Etta James through such a fit over her singing it for Obama. She was so hateful!

    Etta James should be ashamed of herself. She is too old to behave that way!

    But since Beyonce played her in the movie, I don't see how/why it's a surprise that she would record/sing the song!

    I agree with Etta on that one. At Last is one of my all time favorite songs. The reason I love it so much is because it is a classic and Etta James just brings that song to life. What bothers me about Beyonce is that everytime she performs it, she performs it in a way to upstage Etta James....and that's what bothers me. She's trying to make a song that's not even hers, her own....and it just doesn't sit well with me. Beyonce has her own wonderful career....she doesn't to be greedy about it. Just my opinion.

    I totally agree with you on this one. Etta should have sang her song at the inauguration... not Beyonce.

    tumpkin- I agree with you that Etta's version is classic and Beyonce can't touch her. At Last was our first dance song so it means a lot to me, too. When I heard Beyonce sing it for the first time (which was on the radio) I was like- HELL NO. LOL

    BUT--- I'm just saying, Etta shouldn't be acting like that, being an old lady and all! If that was my grandma, I'd be so embarassed. Smile

    I'm kind of ambivalent about the whole thing. ?I love Etta's version of the song, and I think Beyonce is incredibly talented, BUT Etta acted like a whining baby talking trash about Beyonce like that (who else could have played Etta's role better in the film and sung that song so she would like it?). ?Also, I'm kind of reaching the point where I am over Beyonce. ?Overexposure - she's on every award show, she has 20 different songs on the radio depending on the station, and she's kind of irritating in interviews. ?She's a well-trained/well-oiled machine - she's beautiful and can sing/act, but it's like she says what she needs to say to purport and sustain her image.
