Any toddlers with an underbite....should I worry?

I have yet to schedule our first dentist appt. Both of the boys have underbites.....which is surprising bc I don't have one and neither does mh.

Does anyone know anything about this...is it common, cause for concern, etc?

Anyone else have a toddler with an underbite?

  • I had an underbite as a child and I was fine except I had to have braces when I got older.  I needed them to correct the underbite as well as a space between the front teeth.

  • I also had an underbite.  I had braces to correct it when I was about 7.  They didn't want to wait until I had my adult teeth, so I actually had them twice.

  • Carter haws one and both his pedi and his dentist have said that we should expect him to need braces, around when he turns 8 years old, to correct it.

  • You know I also had braces 2x and I think they corrected the underbite and space when I was in 3rd grade (about 8) and I had them again at 14 for the eye teeth that didn't come down properly.
