Best Diapers To Avoid Blowouts?

My dd has been having at least one diaper blowout every day.  I have her in Pampers Swaddlers size 1 since that's the weight range she's in.  Are other brands better at containing poop?

  • I don't have problems with Kirkland (costco) brand. You might try going up a size to see if it helps

  • How much does she weigh? DD had to jump to Size 2 early even though she wasn't yet at 12 lbs (and still isn't).
  • we use huggies and haven't had a problem (knock on wood). If she is in the right size and you don't want to go up a size, you could try doubling up.
  • Try going up a size.  The weight ranges don't seem to correlate very accurately with the size babies need, from my experience at least.  Whenever we start having a lot of blowouts we move up to the next size diaper and they stop.  G/L!

Ditto this. My cloth diapers are the only diapers she hasn't blown out. We've used Pampers, Luvs and Huggies.

  • Do you have the ruffles out on the Pampers?
  • The same thing was happening to me a week or so ago.  Even though DS wasn't 12lbs yet he needed to be in size 2.  He now hasn't had any blowouts.  Give them a try.

  • Another vote for cloth... we use disposables when traveling, and have had regular blow-outs in Pampers, Huggies, and 7th Generation. But we use BumGenius at home (so 95% of the time), and haven't had a single blow-out in 4+ months with a breastfed baby.
  • She's about 10 lbs and the size 1's seem like they should be big enough to contain her.  I still have 50 left...ugh!  I do have the ruffles out and I center her bottom in between the ruffles on the inside.  She just has some power poops!

Cloth diapers would be nice, but I can't be bothered with putting them in the wash all the time.  Do they have disposable inserts?

DD had to move up to Size 2 and 10 lbs. I'm telling ya, try the next size up :) and it sucks because I had just bought a whole pack of size 1 diapers too. I'm going to give them to my friend.

I've heard with cloth you can wash every 2-3 days, I think? Maybe only every other day. I've got an order of bumGenius diapers on their way to me to try out. I'm interested in giving cloth diapers a shot!
