We just had a few friends over for dinner. I made grilled chicken stuffed with honey ham and blue cheese. A lemony veggie pasta salad. Regular salad with mandarins and candied almonds. And for cake, a homemade carrot cake with orange cream cheese frosting.
I think for this year I'm going to do something with cats and dogs, which is her current obsession. But really, it'll be the same theme as last year - good food, but napkins that have cats and dogs. Not very exciting, but very tasty!

We did a Winter One-derland theme. ?We live in upstate NY, Eva's birthday is in late December and we had the party at a park lodge. ?The only problem was it hit 60 degrees the day before so there wasn't any snow! ?Crazy global warming!
3 IUI's and 2 IVF's later- Brady arrived. Born at 36 weeks after PUPPS and pre-e/HELLP.
IUI- BFN IVF #1 -BFP! Allie is our 2nd IVF baby. Born at 36 1/2 weeks after pre-e again
we only had family over for dinner, that means only the inlaws cause my family lives to far away, we had KFC (i know fancy!) and we bought a cake at walmart with sponge bob characters on it, it was very simple, but i wished MY family was there that was the only thing missing!
We didn't really do a theme. The invitations and cake were Jack in the Box and then we had 200 bright colored (red, yellow, green & blue) balloons floating on the ceilings in the living room and kitchen. Then we did the bright napkins, flatware, cups, and plates. It worked well.
We did "the first year 'flew' by" with airplanes. DH is a pilot by hobby, and DS loves airplanes & has them as part of his room theme. Plus half his clothes have airplanes on them...

We had a farm theme and held it at a local park that has tons of pigs, cows, chickens, etc. I also found a really cute farm cake at Safeway. A friend of mine had a monkey themed party with tons of blow up monkeys, monkey cupcakes, banana pudding cake, monkey stickers in goodie bags etc.
Re: Poll: what was your dc 1st b-day theme?

Cucakes. A boy cupcake theme, that is. lol.
Bues, greens, and reds.
Same here.
Well, we did have lots of pink -- balloons, plates, etc., plus a pink piggy cake --- but that was as far as we went as far as themes go.
