Babies: 9 - 12 Months

what kind of vehicle do you have?

I am actually in my first trimester, but we are looking into what kind of car would be baby friendly. We currently have a two door coupe which is great for us, but with a baby and baby gear I don't want to have to push up the seat then push the seat back over and over. So do you mothers out there have any suggestions or would you recommend what you currently drive? Thanks

  • Mercedes ML 500 (it's the SUV).  I would get a four door anything before a two door.   A majority of the mom'sthat I know have SUV's so that they can put the stroller and whatnot in the back.

  • Thanks ladies. I was thinking small suv, now I have to convience my husband. He is very concerned about the gas mileage (or lack of) on suv's, but there is a cost to everything.
  • I have a Honda Pilot and I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE it. I can fit baby gear and groceries it will also be roomy enough for more than one carseat down the road. It's a great car with plenty of room.

  • Toyota Yaris hatchback. Yeah, not so much room for baby in a two door. The sedan would work, though.

Ditto. I drive an ML430 and I love it! It has the perfect amount of space for all of our baby gear, plus the groceries, and lots more. IMO, an SUV is the way to go.

  • Honda CR-V ?I highly recommend it!?
  • We have a minimini-van, as I like to call it. A Mazda 5...seats 6, with sliding doors. I will never again have a child and a car without sliding doors.

  • We are currently looking into getting a suburban. We have a BMW right now and the trunk space is horrible. DD's stroller takes up the whole trunk. DH figures you can never have enough space because you will always find a way to use it.
  • I drive a Honda Odyssey minivan but I also have five kids. I drove an Acura MDX when I only had three kids, and for awhile when we had the girls, but the minivan is way better for five.

If I were you, I'd get one of those cute crossover things... like the Mazda CX-7, the Subaru Tribeca, or the Nissan Murano. I love the look of those cars, and there are tons of them out there now! They would have enough cargo room for you and will generally get better gas mileage than the larger SUVs.

  • Honda civic hybrid;  love it :)
  • we have both a trailblazer and an Equinox and both are SUVs and perfect with baby stuff.

  • I love my pontiac torrent. ;)
  • tahoe. i love it. just got it in december and im in love
  • 08 mazda tribute.  i love it.

side curtain airbags, LATCH, all sorts of great safety features, and i bought it before i planned on having a baby :)

  • We have a Nissan Versa 4 door hatchback and <3 it. Although, if your passenger in the front seat is rather tall they may not have much leg room because of the baby seat in the back.

  • I have a Hyundai Sonata. I was so surprised by the amount of room in the trunk.

  • I have an 08 ford escape. I love it. I got it in june of 07 and still don't have any complaints about. I am bummed to have to trade it now that baby #3 is on the way. Great for 2 kids but 3 just won't fit. Good gas mileage too. We get about 26 mpg in the city and close to 30 on the hwy, and that sticker doesnt even say it goes that high!

Bff has a honda pilot though and it is awesome. She has the 3rd row seating and when we visit we take hers places and we still all fit. Thats 2 carseats, a booster and 4 adults. Yay!

  • I have a Honda CR-V and I love it.  I get about 27 mpg.  It has enough room in the back for baby stuff and shopping stuff and another car seat.

I had the ML before we had TWO refacing car seats and this car just doesn't work haha.? The back seat is too small.? I LOVED that car.? But owell.? Now we have the Lexus GX470 (its the middle size SUV) the back seat is much bigger than the Mercedes.? All in all I would say to get an SUV you will need the space.? Just make sure you aren't having TWINS first hehe! =)? GL and happy car shopping!

  • I have the Lexus SUV as well and I love it. I used to have the Mercedes, but the ride was really rough (more truck like). I've had it for nearly 4 years and haven't had any mechanical issues with it (knocking on wood).
