Hi there!
I noticed from the "elective c-section" post that you have 3 children under 2. We are going to be in the same boat once the twins arrive (my son will be around 15 months) I haven't been able to find anyone else in this situation and was hoping you wouldn't mind answering a few questions!
What stroller did you buy?? DS will just be too young for one of those standing things ithat's in the back of some doubles.
How difficult was it once you had your twins at home? I mean, did you sleep at all?? lol Did you have a lot of family or friends over to help you and to what extent?
How did your older child deal with the arrival of the twins?
How much did you prepare at home before you actually delivered? ( ie: frozen meals, etc.)
So sorry for the list of questions I was just so excited to see someone else with 3 kids under 2!!
Re: ***hgrogers***
I'm happy to answer - it's a unique situation we are in. Bottom line: it's not as bad as I thought, but still A LOT of work!
Stroller: Graco Duoglider. I desperately researched for something that would hold all 3 kids at once & turned up nothing. Like you, my active toddler would never just stand on one of those platforms. I haven't tried to take all 3 out by myself yet - but if I ever do (!!) I will get a Bjorn or some such carrier for one of the babies & put toddler & other twin in the Duoglider - at least that's my plan!
When we 1st got home: The twins had to eat every 3 hours & be woken up during the night to do so as well. I was aso pumping, so I had to pump every time after I fed them. This, combined with not being able to sleep when the babies did b/c of tending to toddler, meant a good amount of sleep deprivation for the first 6 weeks. Now at 7 weeks, thetwins are sleeping 10pm-6am. So it's a lot better.
Re: help: My DD took a little over 1 month off from work for the 1st month, so he was here with me. As soon as he went back to work, I got a mother's helper - DD goes to work at 3 pm ( he is home all day until then) and Mother's helper comes from 5-8 - during dinner/bath/ bedtime, which is also the witching hour. That's all the help except my parents come once a week.
Re; older child dealing: She is doing great. She is not jealous. She has done things to seek attention at times, but basically does her own thing & follows her same routine - so she is basically unaffected & she loves the babies. I will say she someimes has to watch way more TV than I would like - but I do try to minimize this until when I am desperate for her to be occupied. She also does a lot of coloring & activities in her booster when I need her to be contained to deal with the babies.
RE: being prepared: I was horribl;y unprepared for the twins' arrival, I am ashamed to admit. This stressed me out badly at the end of my pregnancy, but it has worked out fine. My mom cooks most of our food for us.
Hope this helps. Please feel free to ask any more questions! Good luck!
