RSV mommas, come in please

So I am a SAHM but just started putting DS in the kid care thing at our gym. Well, what do you know, RSV hits us. He is 5.5 months old. Any tips on how to soothe him? he just cries and cries, the pedi said shower and saline drops, but anything else? TIA!

  • we're in the middle of it right now. we're running the cool mist non stop. the saline is miserable but i guess working. feeding 2oz every 2 hours to keep up his hydration and strength. elevated the mattress with 2 bath towels to help him out. not much else is what the doc told us when we took him back today. it's going to last about 2 weeks. i feel so bad for the kid! good luck!

  • I am sorry he feels bad and hope he gets better asap....but I just had to say your siggy pic seriously made me LOL!!! Yes
  • They didn't give you a nebulizer for breathing treatments?  Ours started with a cough and that was the first thing the pedi said.

Good luck.  We are just getting over it after almost two weeks.

  • Our pedi also said 0.8 ML of infant tylenol was okay for DS, to keep down a fever from his minor ear infection he had at the same time.  It also helped him with the achiness he felt from the RSV.  We did the elevated mattress thing too, and the saline drops.  DS actually didn't mind the saline drops, and they helped so much!

Good luck, and keep your fingers crossed that you don't catch it too.  DS and I were both sick at the same time!
