This is being discussed on the 2nd Tri board. ?One gal recommended this baby food maker:?https://www.williams-sonoma.com/products/e203/index.cfm?pkey=xsrd0m1|16|||0|||||||baby&cm_src=SCH

Has anyone tried this out? ?I was just going to use my own equipment but this looks much easier to clean.?

Re: C&P Making Baby Food

  • I just used a mini food processor and froze in ice cube trays. It was really easy to clean because mini proc come apart.

  • I have this & LOVE it!! Like you, I was going to use my own food processor, but I love this thing so much! It is so quick, easy to use, & cleans up in a snap! I also like to use it for the purees needed for the Deceptively Delicious cookbook by Jessica Seinfeld. Other places sell it besides W&S for a little less & you can probably find free shipping. Good luck!
  • I am sure it is great, but I personally could never justify the cost for something I would use for such a short time when there are perfectly viable alternatives. We just cooked food in the microwave or in a sauce pot and pureed them in a mini food processor or with a stick blender. It wasn't a big deal to clean either one.
  • Personally, I'd say it's a HUGE waste of money. It looks exactly like my Kitchenaid mini food processor which was 1/3 of the price. I have one similar to this: https://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?skuId=7865679&type=product&id=1142301234437&ref=06&loc=01&ci_src=14110944&ci_sku=7865679

But personally for me, I liked to take a whole day and make like two months worth of stuff. So the mini processor wasn't kind of pain b/c I had to do it in such small batches. But my blender worked great! I usually had both of them going at once......carrots cooked and going in food processor, then sweet potatoes cooked being pureed in the blender, then two other things on the stove steaming so that I could rinse the blender and food processor real quick and make those.

Then I just froze in ice cube trays. Put in freezer for an hour or two and then popped into large ziplock baggies which I'd re-use.

  • It does look nice, but like the pp, I couldn't spend that much on something that would be used for a few months.  We just cook the food item (sweet potatoes in the oven, green beans in a pot on the stove, etc.) and then use the blender to puree.
  • Honestly, you don't need a special babyfood maker.  We never used one and less than 2 months after introducing solid foods, we don't even use our blender/food processor anymore- DS doesn't need purees and is just fine with a chunkier texture.  We just mash with a potato masher or a fork after steaming.

  • This is exactly why I brought it over here, I knew you girls would talk some sense into me. What do you use to store your food in? Is it easy to just grab from the freezer and throw into the diaper bag?

  • We freeze them in ice cube trays and store them in containers in the freezer. When we went someplace, I just threw a couple in little tupperware containers and put them in the diaper bag (along with a baby spoon -- don't forget that!)
  • I agree, it's a waste. Most people give babyfood for 6mo tops.

I stored mine in ziplocs. I never defrosted mine in advance because I'm a lousy planner. So I would nuke it in a glass bowl and then put it in a tupperware to take with me.
