Re: Breastfeeding question

  • Looks like our babes have the same birthday! I am having the same issue as you describe - but only in my left breast. That's the breast that has been engorged a couple of times though, so I am chalking it up to that. I also have no pain while he's eating - so I don't think there is any issue. I heard that the tenderness can come and go for the first 3 months. Good luck!

  • Your probably still getting use to breastfeeding.  Your tenderness will go away after a while it might get worse before it gets better so be prepared with lanolin and hot showers.  Your other sensation might be from a let down or you filling back up again preparing to feed again.  I remember having that and it was me filling up.
  • I usually get this feeling when i am having a let down. I always begin to leak shortly after so I just pump when I get this sensation and it goes away.

  • I still have that feeling once in a while. Mostly after he is done eating..when I am exposed to air. I talked to a LC today and she said it is normal to have some pain/sensitivity still. Congrats on your baby!
  • My LO is 8 weeks.. oh 9 weeks tomorrow.  Yes, the burning tingling, I still get it.  The LC said it is usually your breast filling up, sometimes it can be an additional let down... no worries.  The soreness, I still have sensitivity at first latch but goes away almost instantly.  Just always ensure you have a good latch, and if your LO doesn't, relatch until he gets it right, otherwise your setting yourself up for failure or pain in the future... • I don't know about you guys but one of the things that hurts most is when I'm cold and my nipples get hard - OUCH!  I have to keep the bedroom extra warm just to keep my nipples from getting hard on me.
