I am having terrible m/s and was just curious what doctors prescribe if you take something. I am going to call my OB on Monday and ask for a prescription and wanted to know what works for everyone.
I started out with Reglan which didn't work for me so I moved up to generic Zofran... that stuff worked miracles for me esp when I had m/s my entire pregnancy fyi - the zofran is kinda pricey depending on your insurance

at first they gave me phenergan... didn't work and made me very sleepy.
then i moved on to zofran (ondanestron is the generic version). it helped stop the vomiting 5-6 times a day but did not make the nausea go away. nothing did... i just had to wait it out for 14 weeks
if they'll give it to you - go for the zofran. however - know that most insurance companies will only cover a few pills at a time (mine would only cover 10 pills per month - the pharmacy told me this is standard). it is VERY expensive without insurance. however, the generic works just as well but is cheaper. even with the generic my insurance still would only cover 10 pills a month (and i needed 4 to 5 pills a day) so we just started paying out of pocket for it. ask for the 8mg pills too (they come in 4mg and 8mg - you can start by only taking half - and if it works you get more doses out of a prescription).
also - just FYI (sorry if TMI) but it makes you SUPER constipated - so make sure you take some precautions for that
Hope you feel better soon. I wouldn't wish m/s on my worst enemy. I was so sick for the whole first tri (and then some). I lost 20 pounds
I didn't have m/s with Leah but I had a lot of nausea in college when I had stomach ulcers. I also started with Reglan, which made me really sleepy, and then moved to Zofran. Zofran is very expensive but my insurance at the time did cover it. If that doesn't work and it continues, you could move to a Zofran pump. A friend of mine did this and it was a lifesaver for her.

I take 1/2 of a phenergan and sometimes it helps and sometimes it doesn't. I have been told to try Zofran but I am holding out since Phenergan doesn't have as many side effects like constipation but it does make you sleepy if you take the whole thing. Good luck! I have Bad M/S all day so I feel you!

I had hyperemesis gravidarum for the first 19 weeks. Zofran did not work for me (and insurance would not pay for it) and Phenergan made me too tired to work or do anything that required leaving the sofa. I found out about the B6/Unisom combo by Googling. I was desperate to get some relief and to gain back some weight that I lost before I ended up hospitalized. I ran it by my OB and got their blessing. It was a lifesaver. I know it cut the m/s down to a third of what it had been, and I got to sleep at night for the first time in weeks. There are no side effects.
They have used this drug combo in Canada (Bendectin is the drug name) with no ill effects for decades, and it is being tested for approval here in the US now. I would ask your OB...it truly was a lifesaver for me. I will take it again with the next baby without hesitation if I need it.
I'm sorry m/s is getting you Katie. Did you have it with Justin too?
I took Zofran. Just like everyone else said, it is very pricey and honestly the horrid constipation (TMI!) that came with wasn't worth it for me. I kept a pill with me if I needed it for a special occasion but decided I'd rather have m/s than the side effects.
I started with Reglan which did nothing, then took Zofran which barely took the edge off. I was super sick the first time around, non stop vomiting and dehyradration. The only thing that cured it was the third trimester.
