They keep getting hurt!!

Holy crap this moving around stuff is dangerous!

E is crawling all over the place and is so fast (never realized you could get around that fast from crawling)  but today the poor guy was crawling across the tile floor and his little arms just went out and he face planted.  He is home with DH right now and he said he has a big mark on his forehead.  Yesterday when I was home with the boys, there were several falls. S still hasn't mastered crawling.  He pulls himself around, but his legs just get dragged behind him, anyway, yesterday he started pulling himself up to stand (E has been doing this all week) and they both just kept falling all over the place. I would go to pick up one fallen baby and the other would fall.

I feel terrible for them, and they have bruises on them, I look like a terrible mom.  Please tell me I am not the only one with bruised up little ones :(

Re: They keep getting hurt!!

  • Rowan does not like to sit still (unless she's reading a book).  She cruises everywhere and is constantly falling.  She keeps bruising the same places.  I just got a text message from their nanny saying that she fell pretty hard on the side of her face.  That should be a new fun bruise for our Music Together class and Bump get-together tomorrow.

  • Yep, my guys get hurt ALL THE TIME. We keep them barefoot indoors (we have tile everywhere) and that helps a bit, but they still fall over quite a bit - and they do that face plant thing when they crawl if they're going too fast, or they're really tired.

  • When I was little I was the same way. My pedi told my mom that it was the kids with no bruises that worried him, because it meant they weren't playing and getting around like kids should. :)
  • Yup, our boys were and still are the same way. Don't worry - you're not a bad mom. The bruises and bumps are just a right of passage, if you will. Just wait until they start walking and climbing. I walked into the kitchen to find Jacob sitting on the kitchen table playing with my coffee cup. He will climb on anything he can, whether it is stable enough to hold his weight or not. No Plus, both of them are now attempting to go down steps while walking rather than sitting down and scooting like they used to. Nearly every day they scare the crap out of me with their antics. Fun times all around!
  • oh you all just confirmed all my fears.  I can relate because DD, still practicing to sit up, fell over 3 times last week and of course her head landed in the one itty bitty spot that i had left uncovered (she's surrounded by pillows).  I sit right there with her but because i'm also occupying her sister, i didn't react in time to stop her - I felt so bad I started to cry with her!   And I still am so upset about it.    I guess kids (and their brain cells) are resilient
