Starting Milk....(Parents of toddlers)

Did anyone's DC not like cow's milk when they first started it.  My DD is a GREAT eater and I haven't found anything she doesn't like!  However, we have started milk and each time she drinks if from her sippie cup, she gags and makes a face.  I give her formula/milk mix in her nighttime bottle, which she does fine with but I have been trying to get her to just drink milk in her cup at breakfast & lunch.  Just curious if this is something anyone experienced and did your DC end up loving milk?  She has only tried it about 2 weeks, so I'm sure it will get better, right?

  • Just keep offering it to her. Katie didn't care for the taste that much in the beginning, but now she drinks it like a champ. I always offered milk when she woke up, at each meal, and a glass at night. She would have another sippy cup with water to drink in between meals.

In the beginning, we barely made it through a quart of milk. Now, we go through a gallon or more in a week.

  • Charlotte wasn't a fan at first.  So we mixed it with formula (gradually less and less) until she got used to the taste.  Now she chugs it by the gallon.  =)

  • Caleb did the SAME thing.  My mom ended up putting 2 tiny plops of chocolate syrup in about 6 oz and he LOVED it.  We let him drink it like that a few days, then put less chocolate in and now he takes it straight up!  :-)  Good luck.

  • we are having the same problem.  i mix formula at night for her bottle.  she doesn't seem to like the plain milk.  i keep trying though...maybe tomorrow she will get some chocolate in there!
