Parenting after a Loss

Gymboree is ridiculously expensive!

I cashed in some change that I've been collecting and Sophia and I went shopping this afternoon.  Our first stop was Gymboree.  I saw an adorable dress that would make the most precious Easter dress for $50!!!!  It had a little sweater to go with for another $30.  Plus I would need to get shoes and probably a little hat.  Insane.  So I continued to look around.  A little sundress was $30.  Well, it was even a dress, it was a little "creeper" or whatever they are called.  I found a cute outfit, but after I added the pieces up, it was over $50.  I just can't justify spending that on baby clothes.  She grows out of stuff so fast!  So we left the store without buying anything.  I went to Children's Place next. MUCH.BETTER.PRICES.  We got several things there.....2 outfits, 3 shirts, shorts and I think a few other things I can't remember for $94.  Much, much better AND they are cute!  I think I'll be shopping there from now on.  We went to Macy's too and got two Carter's outfits for 40% off.  All in all, it was a good shopping day!!!

  • I only shop their clearance racks - I can't justify their full prices...

  • Yes, but...I have found over the years that the Gymboree pieces I've purchased for my children tend to be my favorites, and get the most use, making them the most valuable over time.  I buy from anywhere, Target, Gymboree, Children's Place, Oshkosh, Carter's, K-mart, you name it, lol.  I've learned that a few great pieces are often worth more to me than a ton of cheaper things, but it all depends.  Actually, I do have my limits, and won't shop at stores like Janie and Jack, so cute, but makes Gymboree look cheap. :)

Oh, and you can always try Gymboree outlets, so much more affordable.

  • I have had a $25 gift card forever b/c I cannot see spending that kind of money on one piece of clothing!  I am going to shop the sale rack for next year and also have a 20% off coupon to use.
  • I LOVE children's place. They fit my son the best. Crazy 8 is owned by gymboree and it's much cheaper. Do you have one of those there?
  • I've never heard of Crazy 8.  I think I will try the Gymboree outlet sometime though.
  • I agree with you, I hit the clearance racks.
