I was just wondering how people felt about the childbirth experience/Lamaze classes. To me they seem geared toward folks who want to go all natural (not me). Is it worth the $130? 3 of my friends have said no b/c they had an epidural and the nurses talked them through, while 1 said she didn't take it but ended up having a c-section anyway.
TIA

Re: Question from a visitor about lamaze classes
My hospital offered a child birth education class, and you do discuss breathing and relaxation techniques, but you also discuss the stages of labor, how to know if you're in labor, all the different drugs that can be used, the epideral, c-sections, and everything like that.
I found it to be very helpful in just an informative way. I just have a better feeling of what to expect.
Ditto. Ours also had a hospital tour, infant care class and breastfeeding class all rolled into the childbirth education classes. We only discuss and practice breathing in the first 3 classes and our hospital doesn't teach Lamaze anymore. It's general relaxation and cleansing breath stuff.
