I always used the reg beds so am trying to find a place w/ the spray tans. All of them have the UV spray OR the airbrush tan. WHat do you ladies do? WHat is the difference? TIA
I am on here all the time and have seen the tanning ??? SOme do, some don't, that was not the question. Just asking the ladies who do which they do they spary or airbrush. If you don't you don't need to answer
I understand how people get annoyed with the "is tanning ok" questions, but she didn't ask that. She was directing the question specifically towards those of us that do tan.
To answer the OPs question: I do the mystic tanning (OB said it's 100% safe) every once in a while because I can't stand looking like a ghost. I guess I don't really know the difference between "spray" and "airbrush".

Just as much as I wouldn't sit in a cancer bed, I wouldn't want to put all those chemicals on my skin for the sheer factor of looking tan in February (or any time really!)
I did two airbrush tans before my wedding back in the fall. I loved it. That is where you have the technician apply it by hand, with a hand-held spray thingamabob.
The mystic, or booth tans, work for some people but a lot of people seem to have bad results (streaking, uneven-ness, etc)
I wish they had a "light" version of the airbrush/Mystic tan. I've found that it works okay for say, an event - because it looks great on the second full day after application. Before that, it looks orange, and after that, it can fade away unevenly. I would not recommend using a spray tan on a regular basis, it's a PIA, and only looks good for two out of the seven or so days that it's on!
Since I got skin cancer and quit UV exposure, I've been using the Jergens daily self-tanning lotion in the fair color every day, plus a separate self tanning moisturizer for my face. What's nice about the Jergens lotion is that includes SPF 20, it's cheap, it doesn't give you orange streaks like other self tanners, and since you put it on every day, it's not like you have to be concerned about the application. If you miss a spot, oh well, you'll get it tomorrow. It doesn't smell, and make a drastic change or orange-y cast to your skin tone. After using it for a few days to a week, you'll start to see some color. I know I'll never have the rich tan I did before (and I don't want it, since I don't want to die!), but, I also don't have my natural sallow/pasty complexion either.
I'm pretty sure she didn't ask if it was okay to tan or whether or not you thought it looked good to be tan....I do the Mystic and really like it. I pretty much only do it for special occasions though, it can get costly to do it every week. My doc said Mystic Tan was just fine.
I use a self-tanning lotion that I love, and it's pretty subtle, depending on how much I put on. It's made by Beauticontrol, and it's the best self-tanner I've ever used. It doesn't streak and it's not orange-y at all. I haven't done the Mystic or airbrush yet because the self-tanning lotion works pretty well for now. I intend to ask my doctor about the airbrush, because that's what I prefer anyway. If it's okay, I'll probably use it here and there in the spring and summer time.

By the way, I used to do the airbrush, and it's amazing. I never Mystic tanned (which is where you stand in a booth, and a machine sprays you). The airbrush you get to pick what color you want (if you want it really dark, or fairly light), and someone is actually spraying you with an airbrush machine (you're completely naked, which doesn't bother me, but it does some people). I used to do this all the time. The only gripes I had is if someone who sprays you is new, they can screw it up and make it look really bad. Also, make sure you don't touch your body when it's still wet becuase the palms of your hands will turn super dark, and it looks awful. The airbrush always looks better the day or two days after getting it done, after you shower. It will fade unevenly about four days after, and that's annoying.

Re: tanning ?
Ohhhh no...
::Sits back and waits for the Friday entertainment to start::
I really wish the search feature worked on this site........
I think it's strange to look tan in the middle of winter when everyone else is pasty white...just my opinion!
Be prepared...these questions are usually not well received on the bump.
Can we get the bump to add this to the top where it says
"2ND TRIMESTER Talk about testing, baby kicks, ultrasounds and the rest of mid-pregnancy with fellow Bumpies. "
and mend it to say:
"2ND TRIMESTER Talk about testing, baby kicks, ultrasounds and the rest of mid-pregnancy with fellow Bumpies AND NOT TANNING??"

That's what I thought!

I am a big pasty blob since I got KU though.
