Babies: 9 - 12 Months

Ever feel like you are always on the run?

I always feel like I never get a chance to just sit home and relax. Every weekend, its always something. Either we visit my parents, or the in-laws. This weekend, we had planned on staying home and I wanted to get a lot of stuff done around the house. I need to put all of DD's old clothes in vacuum bags, and reorganize her drawers and closets. We also wanted to go shopping for a new car seat. Well, that plan was shot to hell because we have a frickin birthday party to go to tomorrow, and on Sunday, we have a funeral. We live so far, and whenever we go out somewhere, its usually an all-day thing. We can't exactly go somewhere, go home, and then do something else. During the week, I get home so late, and I'm too tired to do anything. Besides that, DD goes to sleep early, and I can't finish the stuff I need to. I feel so frustrated sometimes. Anyone else in the same boat?

  • Yes!  I spend most of the weekend cleaning, cooking, shopping, cuz I can't do anything during the week, since I get home so exhausted.  I am hoping when the warm weather gets here, and it stays light later, that I will feel less crazed.

  • I can see how it can get hectic if  you work outside the home.  I SAH and I love being on the go.  I cannot stand staying home on the weekends and most weekdays I go out and do stuff with the baby.  I don't like being home too much, never have.

Different strokes for different folks I guess.

  • I could've written that post!! We are also about 2hrs away from family/friends so also have that drive to contend with for any visits. And you're right, any quick visit turns into an all day affair because once you're down there you mine as well do x, y, z and visit a, b, and c, too.

  • YES!!!!  It's actually causing me to get depressed.  I feel like I'm losing myself and my home (and my relationship with DH) and spending time with DS.  I just don't have time for it all anymore---working outside of the home sucks!

I have actually had to take my own vacation time to clean my house and sort out baby stuff and things like that.  It was the only way it would get done.  And even in the morning--it feels like I'm nonstop til I get to work--where I can finally eat breakfast!

  • I don't like staying home either, but when your house is a disaster zone, you want to stay home. I can't remember the last time I cleaned. Thank God DH helps me with that, or else our house would be filthy. Its just after having something to do all of the time, you just need sometime to stay home and unwind. I love having lazy Sundays, but we haven't had one of those in months. I also hope things won't be so crazy once it gets warmer outside.

  • Yes, always.  Between working outside of the home, keeping up the house, work, grocery shopping, working out and taking care of DS.  I do get lots of help from DH and still feel like I'm always on the run, always doing something, taking care of something.  I've even been known to spend my lunch hour running errands or paying bills.

Lately, we've actually turned down invites to parties and such, just because we needed some down time.

These days I think alot of people are in the same boat.  Our society is go, go, go.  And just wait til our LO's get older, it only gets worse, more to do.  I have a 17 y/o, so I know what lies ahead.
