Daycare did not change diaper all day?!?!

My coworker told me he had just changed his sons daycare and I asked him why they had left their original one since we were looking at it for DD.  He goes on to tell me that they did not change his son's pull-up (he is 3) all day long on 2 different days.  They also lost his son's $40 coat and he tells me that was the last straw.  Um no, the last straw for me would have been the first time they did not change my child's diaper for 9 hours!  The second time the diaper was so full of urine it actually busted and he had the gel running down his legs!  I so would have reported this daycare if it were my child, he just seemed to care about the loss of the new $40 coat more than the diaper.

  • That is awful!
  • Loading the player...
  • That is disgusting and one more reason why I wish I could stay home!
  • Aw, that is terrible!
  • I would be pissed about the diaper, too. That's very unsanitary. They are lucky the DS didn't get an infection.

  • wtf is wrong with people? ?how could a daycare not change a child's diaper / pull-up?? ?

and i agree with you... i would have had my child out of there after the first incident!?

  • First I'd smack him for being more worried about the dumb coat than his child's comfort, and then I'd se if an investigation could be launched into the daycare. Even if your kiddo isn't in it, I'm sure someone could do *something*
  • I would be changing daycares and reporting them! That is just crazy!
  • WHAT??? ?I wouldn't have let him stay that long either, the daycare should at least be ASKING the kid if his pull-up is wet, or checking it from time to time.

My daycare lost Ian's Classic Pooh holiday blanket he got from Santa. ?It was only a $16 blanket, but he only got 2 gifts from Santa and that was the main one, the other was just an afterthought. ?It made me very sad. ?I suspect it either went home w/ another kid, or one of the workers took it home with them. ?I TOLD H not to send the dang blanket up there b/c it was special and did he listen? ?Hell no.

  • I dont want to scare anyone here, but personally, Id be extremely angry about the gel running down his legs. The beads and gels in pull-ups and diapers are made of a substance called sodium polyacrylate. Ingested, sodium polyacrylate is deadly to children in amounts as little as 5 grams.

Negligence from your child's caregiver has got to be the scariest thing I can imagine. :(

  • That is horrible.  Makes me more nervous to send DD to daycare...
  • This and many other posts on here are why I am terrified to put my DS in daycare.  Everyday I go to look for daycares and everyday I end up crying and not doing it.    That is awful!

  • That's awful.  The first time would have been the last for me as well, and they certainly would have gotten reported.

Our daycare does the sheets where they mark naps, bottles and diaper changes so I can track things that way - I hope the sheets are accurate!  You just have to find caregivers you trust I guess.

Yeah, the daycare we ended up picking (not one in OP!) is very popular in this area and I was on the list at 14 weeks pregnant.  I found out at 23 weeks I had one of the 8 infant spots, fast forward to the week before I am supposed to go back to work.  I go visit the daycare and it is not as nice as I remembered and I saw a few things that I did not like, so I ended up crying my eyes out in the car and knew that we had to hire someone to watch her in our home.  It is costing more money, but right now with the economy I just cannot justify giving up my job.  Sorry this got long, but I just wanted to let you know that I  know exactly how you feel!
