i have the medela pisa.
1. what kind of storage bags do i need? do i need the medela ones or can i use the lanisoh ones?
2. how exactly does it work? do i pump into the bag or into the bottle then pour that into the bag? i have only pumped into the bottles that come with the pump (and just to relieve engorgement, not for the sake of creating a stash yet). (i clearly haven't read the instructions yet).
Re: pumpers, i have questions
you can use either kind of bag. Personally, I preferred the Medela ones, but there's no reason the Lanisoh ones won't work.
You can technically either pump in the bag or into a bottle then pour into the bag. For me, i found using the bottles easier (don't know if they create more suction, or what), but I never got the hang of all the tape for the bags and spilled everywhere!
1. I love the lasinoh bags - they store much flatter and hold 6 oz (although I only store about 4 in each bag - sometimes less).
2. I always pump into bottles - it just is way easier that way.
Lansinoh bags were always my favorites. The fact that they freeze flat beautifully was a huge plus for me. The plastic seemed sturdier/thicker and I hardly ever had leaks with them either time I used them for DS and DD.
I always pumped in bottles and dumped into bags. It was just easier for me.
I also just have been catching up on posts, and wanted to send you big hugs. The early days are so rough without any extra stressors, I'm sure you are going on overload. I also wanted to tell you that Hadley is beautiful.

When I pumped, I always found it easier to pump into the bottles and then pour the pumped milk into the bags. I also felt that it was easier to measure the amount of milk pumped when I used the bottles.
I liked the lansinoh bags better. The medela bags seemed to rip easier.
I just stopped pumping and I have a whole box of storage bags, do you want them? I will mail them to you. E-mail me if you want them

I have a Medela and pump into the bottles and pour into the bags. When I started pumping with DD years ago, I tried pumping into the bags and found it enormously complicated. I have tried every bag out there and think that the Lansinoh ones are the best for all the reasons listed here--they are sturdier, they can stand up straight while you are pouring into them, and they freeze flat. I think they are among the cheapest also, and I usually wait until I get some of those 15% off coupons from BRU and stock up.
Now that I am pumping more (I get 7 oz. in the a.m.) and DS is in daycare, I actually just pump directly into the large Evenflo bottle, pop a top on it and that goes directly to daycare.
