Pregnancy break-outs?

I have been breaking out horribly lately and I can't get in for a facial until Monday. In the mean time, is there anything I can use to deal with these new colonies of breakouts? I mean my goodness, this is worse than puberty! I only ask because the other day on WebMD, they said to avoid anything containing benzoyl peroxide or salycic (sp?) acid. Anyone else have this problem or is it just me? And if I'm not alone, what do you use?

Re: Pregnancy break-outs?

  • I am just dealing with it but I seriously have a pizza face. My DH makes fun of it all the time. Oh well - I normally have nice skin.  It's just one of those pregnancy things.

  • i've had really bad pregnancy acne too- face, back, neck. unfortunately not much is helping. just using a mild cleanser and drinking oodles of water. my doc said otc topical acne stuff is ok - but that it probably won't work that well. i'd ask your doc to be sure- not webmd.
  • My face seems fine but my chest is like braille!  EW!

  • my Ob says i can use anything that is OTC- but it probably will not help- b/c it's hormonal and hormones are going to win out over anything topical i try.

my issue is my back and chest- they are like big slabs of pizza. i hate it!

  • Ugh. My face isn't smooth, its all bumpy..Pizza I've just been using regular cleanser, maybe some breakout cream every now and again. I think most women deal with this...and it sucks. So much for the "glow" of pg, I dont want anybody to look at me!
  • I've got it too. So nasty!

  • I've been using the Fresh Umbrian Clay as a spot treatment at night and it has helped a lot.

  • Mine is terrible as well - much worse than when I was a teenager.I have red splotches with pimples all over my face. I feel like people are always staring at me because it's so bad.

I've tried several natural cleansers, burt's bees acne stick, cetaphil and a few masks, but nothing works. My OB said I could use a mild gel w/benzoyl peroxide, but that doesn't work either. I went to a derm. and he gave me a script for erythromicin gel, which I haven't tried yet. I also just got the Belli acne wash.

  • My biggest problem on my face is that you could literally fall into my pores. They are enormous! I have had a lot of bumps on my upper arms, the back of my neck and my chest, though. I just invested in a good concealer and am looking forward to the day when I don't look like I have craters on my face again.
