Still measuring big...

I'm meausuring at 37 weeks now and I'm only 34.  I have to have an ultrasound on Tuesday to check everything out.  So what does this all mean really?  I always feel so rushed at my OB appointments and always think of more things I didn't get to ask when I leave Sad.

She mentioned if the baby looks big on Tuesday, they would re-check for GD.  Great...

Re: Still measuring big...

  • Try not to worry too much.  I do a lot of weight check ultrasounds for women measuring ahead and most of them don't end up measuring big on the scan.  They are just trying to be very cautious, especially given your history (didn't you have GD with Princess Lily?).  I hope you get good news at your ultrasound.  Good luck!

  • I always measured at least 2 weeks bigger than I was.  In my case, it looks like it just meant I had a big baby.  He was born at 39 weeks (planned c-section for other reasons) at 8 lbs 13 oz.  They did do an extra ultrasound to check him out too, but everything was fine.
  • I did this every time (got sidetracked) so towards the end I would always keep a notepad/pen handy and write down ?'s when I thought about them and brought the list with me to the doctor... I need to start doing this with Ben and his appts!

I dont have any advice for measuring bigger, I was always 1 week ahead or behind but I do hope everything works out well!

  • I was measuring ahead from 31 weeks on.  They estimated DD to be over 9 lb the week I delivered.  I had a little 6 lb 10 oz peanut.  I would not worry too much.  The best part of it is that you will get to see the baby on ultrasound a few times more before delivery because they like to watch them closely.

  • I measured 3 weeks ahead starting at around 32 weeks.   She ended up coming early at 36 weeks and weighed 7 lbs.  I'd hate to think what she would have weighed if I'd gone full term.  Maybe this means you'll go early ;-)
  • I measured 2-3 weeks ahead througout my pg, but never had GD or anything.

Personally, I thought from the very beginning (appt at 7 weeks) that they had my due date wrong by 2 weeks. I'm pretty convinced they were wrong, but they refused to change it while I was pg.
