3rd Trimester

Birth Story (short labor!!!)

So I posted yesterday that I was scheduled to go in last night for an easy cath but at my appointment yesterday morning I was 3cm without noticeable contractions.  So instead of the easy cath the doctor said for me to come in at 6am for the induction.

Well last night I was having some cramping but nothing timeable or that I would call contractions.  This morning we arrived at 5:45 and I got all set up.  The doctor came in at 6:30am to check me and I was 4.5cms.  He broke my water and they started the pitocin.  At 7am I called for the epidural because it was getting a little more painful.  They started it at 7:30am.  The nurse checked me again at 8:30am and thought I would be 6cm...yeah I was already 10!!!! and she could feel his head.  Well things had gone so quickly that she didn't have the room set up for him to be delivered.  So they did that and I stated pushing at 9am.  The doctor came in at 9:30am from his second c-section since I arrived.  I pushed through 1 more contraction and he arrived at 9:33am!!

I got a first degree tear but it really isn't that bad.  He weighed 8lbs even and was 22inches long.  His head is 14.5inches around.  We stayed in recovery for an hour and by the time we got upstairs to postpartum the epidural had worn off and I was able to walk around and stuff.  He nursed for the first time at 11am and did great.  He's eating like a champ.  I got my iv out at 11:30 and was able to eat lunch and then shower all by 12:30.  Everyone was amazed at how quickly labor went since it was my first baby.  The nurse said that even without the induction Quinn would have arrived today.  Also I'm lucky b/c my contractions didn't really hurt and so most likely we would have arrived very late (we live 45minutes away).

I feel really good and am already just taking motrin for the pain.  My mom said it must be my reward for having such a miserable pg!  Oh and as soon as he was delivered the sciatic nerve pain went away!  Here is another picture of him:
