I've been struggling to find bedding I like that has a modern/contemporary look, coordinates with black and white and works for boy/girl twins without spending a fortune. I came up with an idea but need some advice from everyone before I actually pull the trigger. Keep in mind, we have black cribs, the walls are currently white with a white chair rail in the middle of the wall and white trim.
Here's my vision:
White minky bumpers, white bed skirt and bright pink modern design sheet for girl, either bright blue or bright green modern design sheet for boy.
I was then thinking of painting the walls a light gray/silver color to contrast with the white chair rail and trim. Then using black and white around the room with black and white curtains, as well as the bright pink and bright blue/green for wall letters for each baby, etc.
What do you think? Is the paint color going to make the room look too dreary or dark? Is that enough color in the room? I didn't really want white bedding but our bumper and crib skirt were hardly ever dirty with my DS so I'm being hopeful that will be repeated.
Looking forward to your opinions!!
Re: Need Opinions - B/G Twins Room Color Scheme
here's a photo from www.designdazzle.com using black/white. they have some great nursery photos that may give you ideas. i like your idea of black/white with hot pink sheet for the girl and then either blue or green for the boy.
another idea for the walls: keep your white walls above and below the chair rail. below the chair rail you could do picture boxes every 12 inches with white moulding and paint black inside the picturebox. you could do chalkboard paint so later it could be used to draw on or just plain black semi gloss paint.
what if you did a black and white toile fabric for the bumper and skirt and then do the bumper piping and ties in pink for one then blue/green for the other? that way you're sticking with the black/white theme for the room but accenting with pink/blue or green. then do your accent crib sheets too.
for wall letters you could paint black circles or squares on the wall and then hang a solid color wooden letter in the center of each circle or square in either the pink/blue or green. (see second photo below) you don't have to do them vertical, they could go horizontally above each crib.
I really like the picture boxes idea under the chair rail. I'll have to see how excited DH is about doing some extra work.
