2nd Trimester

Who will be more freaked out...

Who do you think will be more freaked out when you go into labor - you or your DH?

I'm the one that always has to calm DH down when something is going on because he freaks out too fast. I just hope that he would be there to hold MY hand when in go into labor, not me hold HIS hand if you know what I mean......

Re: Who will be more freaked out...

  • DH handles big things very well.  He'll be my rock.

  • My DH, in fact I'm really worried about how badly he's gonna freak out...
  • I think I will be freaked out.. I am worried I'll have a panic attack most of all. DH is calm, he'll be impatient, maybe a bit pissy but nothing like I will be.

  • DH he freaks out and get stress really easy. I always have to hold his hand
  • I am hoping we will both be calm! If one of us freaked out though, I am sure it would be me.

  • Me.

I hate hospitals and blood. I'm screwed.?

  • DH for sure. He was the one that couldn't speak the day we got married when I met him in front of the courthouse! I won't be surprised if he faints after the baby is born (he is also sensible to the sight of blood, get the type).

  • We were both pretty calm when I went into labor with DD.  He was just freaking out that I wasn't calling the dr.  I told him my contractions were not close enough so I called when they got closer.
  • Oh it will be me that will freak out I'm sure. Probably not at first, but once at the hospital and the dealing of needles and other things it will be me.
  • Hmmm, I never did, lol..until my MW broke my water that is - lol.

    I won't this time either...

Hmmm, but if I had to guess I'd say me - I'd be the one to freak out.

  • Definitely my DH!!  He doesn't do well with the sight of me either bleeding or getting needles stuck in me, so I'm afraid the doc's are gonna have to pick him up off the floor!!!!

  • Probably DH. I tend to remain calm in situations where pain is involved. My mom is a nurse, I know you get "better" care if you don't scream at people and throw things. I will absolutely LOSE IT in the car if DH drives like an old man though. I've already warned him several times.

  • I think he will be.  He says he doesn't like hospitals and he already freaks if I say I have a cramp.
  • DH will be a nervous wreck..I was in the hosptial once for ovarian cysts that had burst, he should have been in the bed the way he was acting! hahah

Poor thing! I think he will be overwhelmed mostly and all over the place but if I need something he will definatly be there for me.

  • Me for sure. DH is always calm, cool and collected. Which will help!
  • We are both pretty calm, but I think DH will get frustrated with me not wanting to go right away.  I'll be like pp-waiting until contractions are close enough, and he'll want to call/go right away.  But I think we'll both do fine.

  • If you asked my DH, he would probably say he would freak out. I am optimistic he'll be ok. I think I'll be freaked but I'll probably hold it together better. We shall see, though. :)

Ditto. DH is a pretty calm person, but he freaks out if I just say "I don't feel well." So he'll be pretty anxious until we get to the hospital - but we'll both stay fairly calm, I think.

  • My FH will be great until the baby is being delivered.. He almost passed out watching his first child be born..

he told me, honey is it ok if i hold your hand and look at you the whole time and not look down.. I said yes honey, :P

  • Before we had our son, I would have said DH would be the calm one.  Once we started heading to the hospital, he freaked out.  He sped the whole way there and couldn't sit still at the red lights.  I, pg and in labor, was telling him to relax!
  • DH will be more freaked out.  That's why my mom has to come!  LOL.
  • Oh lordy, H will be completely freaked, haha. I'm positive it will be me calming him down.
  • DH for sure!  He is not even sure at this point that he can stay in the room.  He is majorly freaked out by needles, blood, etc.  Hopefully he will be able to stand it but I have my mom as a back up.

  • By far, my husband will be the one royally freaking out.  I mean, I think he'll be fine up until we make it to the hospital room.  He can't stand the sight of blood/guts.  Any time he sees blood on tv he has to turn his cute little eyes away!  Poor guy.

  • I think initially he will be freaking out alot. He gets very nervous.. But when we are there and im actually in the 2nd stage I prob will be freaking out more. Im just hoping he is around here when I go. Because if he is at work I know he will be freaking out on his way home driving.. Like driving like 100mph or something!

  • DH.  But that's not saying too much as neither of us tends to freak out a lot.  We were surprisingly calm getting stuff together when I went into labor with DD.

  • Fi likes to put on a brave face for me but I think he'll be more likely to freak out than I will.
  • It will completely depend on the situation. I'm far calmer in hectic situations and usually have a much clearer head. That being said, I'll also be in a lot of pain and such so I might not be up to my usual standards. I don't think either of us will freak out though, as long as we're together and nothing appears to be wrong.?

If I'm home alone and he's at work, I'll be freaking out until he gets home probably. I'm sure I'll try to do something relaxing like take a shower/bath, but I might just pace the living room with my hospital bag in-hand until he shows up, freaking out the cats. Hopefully that won't be how it goes though. ?

ditto.  DH will probably be too busy making fun of me to be freaking out.

  • DH - he is very calm but I think he will be a dear in headlights, in the cornor the whole time to afraid to do or say anything wrong. Haha!

  • Me.  He's not the one that has to be in horrific pain and push the baby out.

It's all excitement and fun for him.  For me....not so much.

  • OMG ME!!!  He is the calmest and most passive person I know.  He handles EVER panic situation with ease and is always calm and collected.
