A co-worker recently found a stray dog stuck on the highway. She raves about how sweet he is but they can't keep him b/c their older dog is grouchy and doesn't like him. So today I have convinced my DH that we should take him as a foster until we can find someone to adopt him. DH is afraid we will get attached and end up with 2 dogs under 2 and a baby due in June. I couldn't help myself though, she was going to have to take him to the shelter. At least I only agreed to take him for the weekend to start and make sure he does ok with our dog.
Re: So I may have just done something stupid.
Hahaha - You sound like me. I would've taken him in a hb too
Then again, DH wouldn't allow it - he's the common sense one in the relationship =D
I know! Yesterday she got me wanting some queso really bad just by seeing her screen name.
My thoughts exactly!
I love cheese, I actually have some nachos in my lunch bag as we speak.
mmk, you did not do something stupid.
i hope he gets along with your current dog.
i did this exact same thing - brought home a stray - 125lb stray. and now - i love that dog soooo much. i honestly couldn't imagine my DH and i's life without Moose. since i've been pregnant - he is my shadow. he brings sooo much joy to our lives. we, too, will have two doggies and a baby come june.
yay!
{forever remembered and missed my sweet babe}

Argh! Is it possible to send me some via the bump? I wish...
Yeah I'm a little worried about this too, but we will be taking him to the vet to have him checked out and be fixed. I found a rescue org that will cover the costs if we foster him.
Nah, you did a great thing!
Do keep him separated from your dog until he's been to the vet, but there's not much you can catch from him that wouldn't be obvious.
and you've already found a rescue to "take him over," that's awesome! and usually the biggest hassle!
If you need advice, check out the pets board on thenest. Most of us foster and can help you. And here's a couple tricks to not get to attached: call your self "aunt and uncle" and not mom and dad, and remember that if you keep this one, you probably wont' have the room to help the next one that comes along, even if its in a few years.
Ah ok. I was thinking that if you were keeping him and not planning on getting him checked out, then it probably wasn't a good idea, but you're good now
OMG I totally want to queso now. Thanks a LOT!
Ditto?
