Share your interview questions please.

My boss gave me the responsibility of interviewing interns for our office. So I need a few good questions to see if they fit with our department. What are interview questions that you think are good, bad, and why? Thanks for your help ladies!

Re: Share your interview questions please.

  • I was once asked "If you were a Disney character which one would you be"  At the time I thought the person interviewing me was crazy, but after I thought about it for awhile I realized that since that question totally threw me off, I was much more honest the rest of the interview and didn't give the "pre-packaged" responses that most interviewees give.  You might get strange looks when you ask it, and honestly the answer doesn't really matter - it's just getting the person off their scripted responses so you see the real them.

  • A colleague always asks this question, "If you were a piece of playground equipment, which one would you be and why?"

The answer doesn't matter, it's how they answer it.

  • Would you rather complete a task quickly or accurately?

The question kind of threw me off but, my response was I would like to complete it as efficiently as possible, so I would ask for feedback in order to complete the task quickly AND accurately.

  • I like this one...

What can you tell me in five minutes that would persuade me to hire you?

It tells you whether the person can highlight their strengths/accomplishments/etc. or whether you have to cut them off because they ramble and can't form a coherent thought. You learn a lot from people when you leave the question very open-ended!

  • *Why do you want this job?

*What do you know about this company?

*How do you organize your day/prioritize your tasks?

*If I were to interview people you've worked with in the past, what would they tell me about you?  How you work?

*Give me an example of something your tried to accomplish and failed

  • In my HR class we did 'mock' interviews with situational questions. I think those are the best questions. This way you get a good idea of what kinda worker the interviewee is. You can ask them to describe situations they have been in that will help them in the job they are interviewing for. This way if they don't have alot of expirience in the field, they can even talk about expiriences in college, etc...  an example of one would be...

Tell me about a time had many tasks to juggle and complete many tasks before a given deadline. How did you manage to get everything done on time?

I hope that helps a bit

  • "What are you passionate about?"  I was asked this when I was interviewing for my current job and I answered the I was passionate about people.  The job is completely centered around providing clients with a high level of service and always putting them first.  So I guess my response worked!
