Creeped out: I was followed last night

And I can't shake it. I went to my parent's house to get dd a humidifier-they live a couple of sub-divisions down from us. My mom was here, mh at practice. I followed this van at 15 mph out of my parent's neighborhood on to the main rd. He was going under 20 on a 45 mph rd. I was not riding hisass at all. But I could see him looking at me in mirror.

Car was flying up behind us, so I turned on my left turn signal. Van got into right lane for neighborhood across from mine. I turned left, van reversed on busy street, turned left and came up behind me. Then he dropped way back and followed me. I sped way up.

Called my mom told her I was being followed and to open garage. She wasn't fast enough so I left the car in driveway. He saw me turn off headlights and knew which way to turn at stop sign. Then he stopped right in front of my house. Mom flicked the lights at him and he drove off.

I couldn't sleep-every car I heard I thought it was him. Now I can't quit looking out my windows. I've never felt unsafe before and I hate it. It was just creepy (

That is so scary! It might not have been a bad idea to call the police and give them a description of the car and what happened.

Hopefully you'll never be in that situation again, but next time, I would drive around for an extra hour if that's what it took to lose him and not let him see where I lived.

That's scary! Maybe he knew you? How did he know which house was yours? Have you seen him before?

Scary! I'm always so paranoid about that stuff. I guess because when I was in grade school, a classmate of mine followed me off the school bus as I went into my house. He then rang the doorbell forever. When I went to look out the window, it was him in an orange ski mask! So I didn't know who it was, I was home alone (8th grade) & called 911. I think that scarred me for life. I couldn't stay home alone for the longest time!!! I'm still paranoid about something bad happening to me, so I know how you feel!

I think I should have called the cops. But I didn't. It was an old dirty, rusty white Astro van. I didn't recognize it at all. I didn't get the plate when I was following him because I didn't even think of it.

He knew where I lived because my house is 3 down from the stop sign and I turned off my lights, but it was too late and he saw me and followed me.

If I had dd with me, or if I was going home to an empty house I wouldn't have stopped and I would have called the cops. It is still giving me goosebumps!

Im sorry that is scary! I have always been told that when being followed dont drive to your house. Drive to a store that is opened and with people around and go inside. Esp a gas station that will have cameras and then run inside. Tell everyone there what is going on and ask them to call the police. If he/she follows you there the cameras can get their plate # and can be tracked down.

Call the police and maybe see if they can patrol the area for the next few nights. Give a description of the van as well.

That's so creepy. It couldn't hurt to call the cops non-emergency line now even and let them know what happened. This way they can be on the look out for a van that meets that description.

When I called 911, he had left my house. The cops came by & tried to look for him in the neighborhood. They brought him back so that I could ID him. That's when I realized it was my classmate & he lived a few blocks from me! I guess he had this crush on me & said he was just trying to "scare me", which he did a good job of, still to this day! Totally a creepy guy! He got a restraining order to not come within so many miles of my house, not sure what his parents did to him, they were kind of WT. I got alot of crap from kids at school for calling the cops on him, so I know he was telling everyone about it. I was so mad & embarassed! We didn't live in the best neighborhood back then. But he never did anything again.

Oh, I was followed once as well. I was a sr. in hs and had 3 friends with me. They were all freaking out telling me to just pull over. I was like, um no. I had to stop and get gas so I pulled into a gas station and told them to stay in the car no matter what. The van pulled in but parked away from us. I thought they would leave us alone so I got back in and pulled out. He waited a few seconds but then pulled out as well. I guess he didnt think I would be watcing. When I saw him pull out I made a quick turn off and he didnt see. When he did notice he did a U turn in the middle of the 4 lane highway. When he turned around I pulled out and did 90mph to the most crowded place around....walmart. He had followed us in all about 30mins. On my way I of course got pulled over THANK GOD. and told the police to watch for the van. When he passed the officer pulled out and a few ft up pulled him over. He told me to stay there and he would come back and get a statement. He didnt write me a ticket either. My 3 friends were all in tears and I was shaking but calm til it was over. Then I freaked out. (thats how I am in these situations. calm til its over)

The scary part is that the guy that was driving has a background of kidnapping and rape. OH MY GOD! Im more scared about it now than I was then! It could have been very bad if I had pulled over. The police officer told me I did the right thing by going somewhere crowded and that if I had gotten there (without him pulling me over) to go in running and screaming for help. It attracts attention and people stop and look at you. They are more apt to remember you if you are running and sreaming and then help you. Plus the person following you gets scared off.

I would still call the police.

Wow...scary. They say not to drive to your home but to drive to the police station. We had to do that one time...I was with my cousins (when we were teenagers). These guys followed us from McDonalds and we could not get rid of them. We didn't want to go to anyone of our houses because we didn't want them to know where we lived so we drove to the police station. They parked a little ways away and even sat there while the police walked up to them. The police told them to move along. Then the cop followed us to the first drop-off house to make sure they were no longer following us.

Why did you drive back to your moms? I've been in that situation twice before and I drove to the nearest police/fire station and pulled in and that scared them off.

I didn't drive back to my moms. She was at my house and I ran to her house to get the humidifier. I guess I shouldn't have gone to my house. I guess I was more worried about getting the humidifier going in dd's room before she went to bed.

It was like, I knew I was being followed, but I wasn't 100% sure if I wasn't being paranoid, but then when the van stopped in front of my house.....

I've never been in a situation like that before and I guess I just did some things wrong.

People are crazy. My friend was followed home a few weeks ago. Another car had to merge over, and she cut my friend off. The woman evidently thought my friend wasn't going to let her in, but she had no room to move at all. My friend also has her 5 year old daughter with her. So parks and tells her to run inside and get daddy, who comes out immediately. This woman decides to turn around, and hits a parked car! Karma is a biotch! My friend was leaving for vacation the next day and thought, great, now this woman knows where I live and she's crazy enough to come back. never did though, I guess hitting the parked car was damage enough. But really, what goes through someone's mind? I would NEVER follow anyone home. You don't know what anyone else is capable of these days.
