DS is scratching the hell out of his forehead: Help!

His nails are short and smooth, but he still scratches the sh**t out of his forehead. He looks like baby wolverine was trying to scratch an itch. WTF? I have been using anti itch cream on his forehead but only aveeno...anything else I should try?

    Is his forehead itchy? Are you sure his nails are short enough?
    You may need to put those little mittens on him

    Try Aquaphor lotion it is great.

    Perhaps our babies were twins in a past life- DD does the same thing!!! She did have a little eczema there but that is cleared up and she still does it. I have to swaddle her to sleep otherwise she would not have any skin left on her face!

    My DS does this all the time to put himself to sleep! I just try to keep his nails really short and lotion his head/face all the time. It's not that he is itchy its just his method to put himself to sleep!! We tried mittens and putting socks over his hands at night but he just rips them off. So we have learned to deal with the scratches...luckily he heals quickly.

    DD still has to have mitties on when she sleeps.  I tried for a week with out them and she looked like she beat herself up.  I file her nails every evening before she goes to bed but still manages to scratch herself..

    Thanks ladies, I will try the aquaphor! He rips the mittens off (socks as well). We have to swaddle for  the same reason :-)

    I would put 1% hydrocortisone on it, but some people aren't comfortable with that. I trust my pops, though, and that is his suggestion :o)

    I also recommend aquaphor. We put it on DD twice a day (morning and night) and it helps keep her from itching. Plus, even if she does scratch, the skin isn't as likely to break open because it's moisturized.
