Babies: 0 - 3 Months

i called my doctor

they are hesitant to prescribe something for me since i've already had my 6w pp checkup and didn't mention anything then. ?quite frankly, i was never asked really how i was feeling, and never brought it up because it wasn't an issue at that time. ?so they told me to call my PCP to see if they would see me. ?

i'm on the phone with them now and i think i'll have an appointment this afternoon. ?although they can't find my file because i haven't been there in so long. ?ugh, why does everything have to be so freaking difficult? ?i just want to talk to someone!!!?

Re: i called my doctor

  • *HUGS* hang in there - you are doing great by being so proactive for yourself and baby!!

  • That sucks that your OBs office isn't working with you No They should know that these things can come up after 6 weeks. I hope you are able to get in with your PCP.

DD #1 passed away in January 2011 at 14 days old due to congenital heart disease
DD#2 lost in January 2012 at 23 weeks due to anhydramnios caused by a placental abruption
  • That is really freaking annoying!! My OB didn't ask me either about that- I really think they should...

Hopefully you can get in with your PCP.

  • That sucks about your OB, I did not call her until my DD was 3 months old and she agreed that I had PPD and prescribed me Zoloft.  I started to really feel the PPD when she was just over 2 months old and it took me about 3 weeks to accept it and call the doctor.  Good luck!

  • Oh Megs, hugs... Just remember you're doing it for yourself and your family. You're a great mom. But it sucks that no one asked you at your 6 week check up. Has Colin had his shots yet?? I know they gave me a ppd quiz at that just to see how I was doing, but Canada is very different in the medical aspect!

  • ok, they can't see me until 3/4. ?wtf??? ?i'm calling my OB back. ?this is absurd. ?they are justifying waiting so long since I told them i have no desire to hurt anyone. ?
  • I would ask for a referral to a therapist or someone that can look after you. I know that my OB would only prescribe me something for so long, before I had to transfer the script to a different doc. It made all the difference for me.  And there is something called "late onset PPD" It's normal, but not something an OB would necessarily know much about.

Hang in there...it's tough, but once you get it under control, you will feel much better :o)

  • That feeling could change over night.. they should know that. I'm sorry megs that sucks!

  • that's total BS about waiting until 3/4...i would raise hell, personally.
  • I thought 3/4 was 3/4 pm.  Absolutely, do not wait until March for the appt. I would definitely call ob back and get an appt asap.  My ob didn't ask about how I was. My children's pedi asked more in-depth questions about  my feelings/mood, etc. GL!  And keep us posted!
