Dress for my shower

My shower is in two weeks and I live in Boston (so it's still really cold here - it snowed last night!)  I'm having a really hard time finding a dress to wear for the shower.  Everything looks so spring, and I feel like it would look weird if I wore nylons with a spring/summer dress.  I really want to wear nylons b/c I dont want to show off my legs!  Would it be weird if I wore a black dress to a Saturday afternoon luncheon?

    If it is cold in your area -- then I would say no. JMO

    I'm not much help, but did want to sympathize. I have a shower this weekend, and I'm wearing a pretty questionable combination, thanks to very cold weather and nothing but spring dresses out there. Hopefully the fashion police will accept pregnancy as an excuse.

    If you do wear the black dress, is there any way you coud use a scarf or jewelery to add color? Might make you feel less dismal. I've done that for a couple of events and it's worked well. I took a fun scarf and tied it around the part of the dress that was snug udner the bust. I receieved a bunch of compliments... everyone thought it was part of the dress, so it must not have looked too odd.

    I wouldn't feel weird about it at all, but I'm a little biased because I always wear black!

    I don't think that would be weird at all. You can play it up with some bright accessories or some sexy shoes.?

    Do you have to wear a dress?  I live in Minnesota so I'm in the same situation.   My shower is this Saturday and I'm wearing jeans and a cute top.  The dress was just not going to happen :)

    I would LOVE to wear jeans, but unfortunately I'm not able to.  My next option is to wear a black skirt with a colorful top.  Have fun at your shower!

    did you go to Destination Maternity yet in NAtick?  I found some really cute winter dresses on sale there recently in the 30 dollar price range.

    Yes, definitely go for the black dress with colorful jewelry or even a simple pearl set.

    I wore a black sweater dress with mine, but just dressed it up with some colorful jewelry. I think that's just fine. Have you looked at gap maternity's dresses today? I just got an e-mail that their dresses are on sale and there are some realllly cute affordable ones! You could also wear a basic dress and wear a cute shrug or dress jacket with it. Good luck!
