Can you give me some suggestions/hints for washing bg 3.0 and AIO's with an HE washer? I use Charlie's soap and do the following: wash in cold with an extra rinse, wash in hot w/ soap with an extra rinse and then wash in cold again. Is this ok? thx for your help/tips
Re: diaper wash with HE washer?
Maybe I'm just not very intelligent, but I couldn't figure out how to make a custom cycle on my HE so I just used the one that had an extra cold rinse and washed in hot. The sanitary wash had all of those, and of course it sounded good to "sanitize" the diapers, so that is what I've been doing.
I use 1 Tbsp Crunchy Clean diaper detergent and then fill up the softner section with vinegar. I've had no problems with any of my diapers using this method.
For the dryer I use the extra delicate cycle and then click the drying level to "extra dry." This gets all of the pockets and most of the inserts completely dry and then the AIOs and some of the fitteds about 75% dry.....then I hang. Seems to be working perfect for us. Everything still looks brand new.
Yes, adding weight should increase the water level for the wash, but it isn't likely to add more water for the rinses. Whitest whites cycle usually (at least on my mom's and my?Kenmore) adds a second rinse. It also uses hot water and extended cycle length, I think. My machine has two options for extra rinse (one is the 2nd rinse, the other is Skincare rinse). The skincare rinse adds more water than the 2nd rinse.
Here's what we do:?
Delicate cycle - Cold with extra rinse (A very little bit of detergent)
Whitest Whites cycle (has an extra cold rinse built in) - Regular amount of detergent and any additives if I happen to be using them (Calgon, borax, oxi-clean baby, TTO, etc.)?
Quick wash - Warm or Hot with extra rinse (No detergent)
If I don't do the extra wash at the end, the diapers do not get clean enough IMO. We have hard water, so that combined with the low water machine makes things a little more tricky for us.
We use Planet powder detergent but also liked Crunchy Clean. I don't think I was using enough CC though - I would use more than the package directions for hard water. ?
MrsAHoffman - you do all this at one washing? ?
