So I have to go out of town in 2 weeks. Unfortunately I've recently had a dip in my supply. I'm pumping 4 times a day at work and nursing DD at lunch, plus nursing her at home and pumping in the morning before she wakes up and evening after she goes go bed. (I'm exhausted!) All of this and I am only producing barely enough for the next day. My freezer stash has gone from 30 ozs to 8 ozs in the past 3 weeks. I called my LC and she said I'm doing everything right and I just have to hang on. Problem is that I have a trip out of town in two weeks and won't have the 60 ozs frozen for DH and daycare. My LC said to start doing a mix of formula and BM now so she gets used to it. This may sound stupid but how do I do this? Mix formula with water and then add BM? Does the BM count as the liquid? I can't find anything on Kellymom. I'm going to continue all the pumping in the hopes of not needing the formula after my trip. Plus, this will allow me to freeze a little more so DH and daycare can do a mix while I'm goine.
Re: Not enough BM stash for my trip
I'm sorry you are going through this stressful time and honestly you really are doing a great job at trying to increase your supply.
Have you tried drinking more during the day, taking fenugreek or mothers milk tea, eating oatmeal etc?
I've not mixed formula with BM before but I'm assuming that you would mke up the formula normally ie in water then pour some of that into a bottle with your BM. So if your DD takes ie 4oz and you want to do half and half then I would add 20z of BM to 20z of formula to get the total 40z.
GL!
I'm sorry you're going through all that. If you haven't already tried it, I highly recommend the liquid version of More Milk Plus to increase your supply. I seem to notice an increase overnight when I use it. The liquid is supposed to work faster than the capsules.
Good luck!
