3rd Trimester

2nd Trier: Question for working ladies

Re: Maternity Leave

I'm trying to use my accrued time and not take disability due to the cut in pay. I have about 2 months saved. So here's my question: at what point did you feel like it was time to stop working and go out on leave? If you haven't gone out on leave yet, when are you planing to?

Thanks in advance Big Smile

Re: 2nd Trier: Question for working ladies

  • I worked until the day my water broke.

    I'll be doing that again.

    I don't get mat leave. If I don't work, I don't get paid.

I'll only be taking 4 weeks off after baby comes.

  • I took a month off before DD was born and I was going crazy waiting. And waiting. And waiting. I would work as long as possible, even if it's PT, just to keep yourself busy and your mind off the baby, depending on your job of course.
  • I am scheduled to leave mid April but may stay until the last week of April or the first week of May.
  • With DD I worked up until I went into labor.  I actually went to my check up with plans to go to work afterwards only to find out I was in labor.

With this child I am working up until 2 days before my c-section.

  • I'm on the hook for my mat leave - no STD because I haven't been with the company long enough. ?I will work until the kid comes out unless there's a reason I can't.
  • My last day is 4/17 and I'm due a week later.  Since I'll be doing weekly appointments at that time, I'll let my progress or lack there of decide if I should go on leave earlier.

  • I'm working until I go into labor or until I can't physically do it.  (I'm an occupational therapist and lift, transfer, etc my patients all day long)

  • We haven't determined what my last day will be -- my company doesn't need to know til the end of March, but whatever my doc estimates my DD to be at that point, I'll take a week before just to get some R&R, get a few things done, etc.
  • I am going to work up to the week before my due date. I figure at that point I am going to be too tired to deal with 20 kids and will need the rest before the big day but if it happens before then that's fine.
  • I'm going to work as long as I can so I have more time with the baby. We'll see what I can handle toward the end.

  • i plan on working until i go into labor, unless Dr or I suddenly decide otherwise. luckily can qualify for STD at two-thirds of my regular pay which is better than nothing. at least my car payment and a couple other bills are covered :P
  • With DS I worked right up until the day i had him.  I will to do the same this time.  I'm military, we don't get maternity leave before baby, only after. The only way I can get out of work is if I'm put on bedrest.
  • I will be working until I'm in labor because I want all my time off with baby... but my boss did agree I can work from home most of the last two weeks.

  • I'm planning on working up til I'm 39 weeks. That's what my OB recommended.
  • I want to use all of my maternity leave for after the baby arrives, so I am planning to work up until I give birth.

  • I plan on working up till I go into labor or Dr says I have to stop.
  • I am working until exaclty 2 weeks before my due date. I was going to work until 1 week before, but I am on my feet all day and am already getting tired and sore from that.

  • I plan to work until DS is born. ?With DD I was put on bedrest at 36 1/2 weeks and induced at 38, so we will see what happens, GL!
  • I went into labor at work.  I don't get paid maternity leave so no work no cash.  I had a month vacation time saved up.
  • what type of work do you do? that will make a BIG difference.

for me- i drive all day long, have to walk a lot, etc (sales) - most women i work with go out at 34-36w b/c it just is too hard after that.

  • I'm a teacher, so we have spring break starting the week of April 6 - my due date is April 12.  I'm not likely to go back after our break - but we'll see.  Like PP said, I'll be on weekly appointments then and will determine if I'll go back depending on progress or lack there of.  The doc has already said a few times that this is a 'big baby' so I'm hopeful that I will go before my dd.

I'm a social worker so mostly office work and some home visits. I was thinking I would go out the week I'm due, depending on how it all goes.

Thanks for all your input ladies! My first post here was very pleasant Yes

  • I'm still working. I plan to do so until I go into labor.

  • I won't be going on maternity leave until I deliver. Or at least that's the plan now! Hopefully the little guy won't get me put on bedrest before then. I want to get all my time off with him on the outside - not on the inside!
  • Working till I deliver so I can get all the time off after my little ones comes.
  • I'll work untill I go into labor.  My doctor says this is a good idea, even though I work an hour away from work.  But coworkers are being horiffic about it all!  They dont want me to work up untill the day.  Jerks!
  • I also don't get paid for maternity leave and will most likely only be taking 4 weeks.  I'm going to attempt to work to the end.  I'm a Chiropractor and work with 2 other female chiros.  We've pretty much been planning for this and have built some flexibility into the schedule.  Lately i've only been adjusting 1-2 half days per week.  We plan on taking turns :)

I feel like since this is our first, if I was @ home too soon, I may go CRAZY waiting!!

  • I'm planning on working until I go into labor. I only have 6 weeks of vacation/sick leave built up and I want to use all of it after DD is here.
  • My last day is scheduled for 39w 3d....I needed to give a last day so that they could schedule my substitute starting (I'm a teacher).
