2nd Trimester

How much candy/sweets/dessert do you eat a day?

I've been craving sugar but have been trying really hard to resist.

I ate the entire pack of starbursts today though (I usually try to eat 1/2 one day and the rest the next).  I know it's dumb, but I feel guilty, even though I eat healthily most of the time.

Re: How much candy/sweets/dessert do you eat a day?

  • I had 3 Keebler cookies after swimming today. I didnt crave sweets..I craving something dry to crunch on.  I dont really crave sweets lately.  I used to crave cupcakes but that was 3 weeks ago.

Ditto.  One of our parents made brownies today, and I never got one and almost cried.

  • I have a sweet tooth too.  I can easily pack a couple homemade cupcakes away at a sitting!  I allow myself to eat sweets but not artificial colored/sweetened ones, if that makes sense.  Like I would choose a few pieces of chocolate over gummy bears (even though I LOVE gummies) or I would eat a bowl of ice cream over an artificially flavored popsicle.

If you are not at risk for gestational diabetes and are eating an otherwise rounded diet I would not worry.  Just try to limit the portions but if you crave a sweet then enjoy it! :)

  • I'm usually a salty food person, but lately I've wanted sugar, and a lot of that has been fruit and chocolate. I think that the chocolate thing is because I want milk and milk tastes SO good with chocolate. (S'mores poptarts in the morning, Cadbury cream eggs, etc).

I've been trying to hold off, but it is not easy. As far as breakfast goes, I give in and eat whatever it is I'm hungry for (usually two huge glasses of skim milk and some poptarts) because if I don't eat anything then I get sick.??
  • I love to eat chocolate every day! I eat a few kisses (like 10), and have some starburst's as well.

I drink alot of water (if it helps to stay healthy) as well!

  • Well, I'm pretty proud of myself for turning down a donut this morning, but it's only because they didn't have any in the box that I liked.
In addition to regular food, I usually have half a grapefruit with a tsp. of sugar sprinkled on top. A glass of Newman's lemonade. I am just starting in on 3 Keebler M&M cookies. I usually have a scoop of ice cream after dinner. And if I come across a piece of chocolate, I'll eat it.

  • I normally don't eat a lot of sweets but today I ate some dibs (and I ate some yesterday) and a small ice cream from DQ.  And I think I am going to have some skitles... and maybe some fun dip...

  • I've been on a 2 servings a day kick (usually right before and right after lunch.  Nice, huh?)  Most of the time it's 2 cupcakes, but recently I had a 2 chocolate croissant day that was wonderful...

Wait - do we count Lucky Charms as dessert?  Because then you have to add another serving (or sometimes 2).  This isn't good.

  • Jeez, I feel like a fatty. I crave sweets like crazy. Last pregnancy it was cheese and mexican, this time it is chocolate and candy. Seriously in the last week I have eaten skittles, twix, cadbury egg, homemade cookies, wedding cake and probably some other stuff... oh yeah, sprees! I usually have a candy a day. Last night DH was craving homemade choc. cookies and I ate FOUR!! He ate 5 though, so I don't feel as bad. Sheesh. I am gross, I know!
  • I'm actually pretty good.  I crave salty stuff, and some chocolate.  Trail mix works for those cravings because it has the salty peanuts and stuff, and then the M&M's for the chocolate.  I usually eat probably 1/2 cup or so a day.

  • I tend to indulge more on the weekends than during the week... as sort of a
"reward" for behaving for 5 days. :)
  • I haven't gone one day without at least one or two sweets- usually a piece of dark chocolate after lunch and small bowl of ice cream at night. Sometimes more, but never less! I otherwise eat pretty healthy, so hopefully it all balances out! :)

I count Lucky Charms as sweets, but I could be weird. I'm not going to eat my bowl tonight after dinner because of the starbursts. I bargain with myself all the time. "If I don't eat the starbursts, I can have a bowl of lucky charms." or "If I eat these poptarts now, no dessert tonight".

  • Umm...

::sneaks another chocolate out of the box::

I haven't always had a sweet tooth this pregnancy, but lately I'm always craving something sugary Embarrassed

  • I actually eat less ice cream etc now than I did before pg. for some reason not craving it as much but I def eat my share of Yankee Doodles (ate 2 packages yesterday.) I wouldnt be too worried about it unless your dr says it is causing you problems. Indulge...its the only time we can!
  • I crave tart/sour candy so I usually have a couple of chewy sweet tarts a week.  Plus a banana split a week (it's fruit right, that makes it healthy!!!)

I have more trouble resisting the cravings for fried food than the sweets.

  • Um, a lot.  I won't even say.  And now I want Starburst.

  • i've always had a huge sweet tooth, even pre-pregnancy...but at this point i'm not really eating any more sweets than i did pre pg...a piece of chocolate a day after dinner, a bowl of ice cream one weekend night, and a cake-type dessert the other weekend night...

  • Well so far today I had a 20 oz Grape Soda; a 16 oz decaf iced mocha, a maple bar, a half of a butterfinger and like 9 red vines. DAMN I didnt think I was doing too bad until I just read what i wrote. SH*T Indifferent

  • I like a piece of chocolate after dinner, but I always used to do that. In moderation it's fine. I don't eat more or less of it now.

  • I have waited my whole life to be pregnant and be able to eat ice cream daily without feeling guilty. Even though Ive grown up since this dream started and realized that packing on the pounds isnt a great idea, I am enjoying sweets whenever & wherever I want them (especially ice cream). I may regret it later when I cant get off the extra few pounds, but like I said I have waited a long time for this so its okay!

Crossing my fingers my OGTT goes well when I go in for it!

  • A lot.

I had 7 Reases' cups (the small kind) today.

I'm probably going to melt some chocolate later that I got from the melting pot and add milk and peanut butter. Mmmmmmm.

Wait, do PB&J sandwiches count?? If so, I'm screwed.

  • Dammit, dammit dammit!  I read all these posts, and then I went to the convenience store across the street and bought candy.  But I couldn't decide what I wanted, so I bought a roll of sweetarts, a small bag of hot tamales, a fun dip, a laffy taffy, and a toffee bar.  Dammit.
  • um, yeah.....I usually don't eat alot of sweets....but this week has been tough, V day and all

and now I want some starbursts!!!
